Further Seems Forever
w/ DYNAMITE BOY / LOST CITY ANGELS / BREAKING PANGEA

August 18, 2002
The Ottobar - Baltimore, MD

This was an early show at the Ottobar, because they had to make way for a dance party or some gay shit like that later on. Me and Eric went to the show, cause I'm down with FSF and he's really into Dynamite Boy. The first band, Breaking Pangea, was a typical emo band, nothing special if you ask me. However, everyone else there seemed to love them, including Jason Gleason (of FSF) who was sporting one of their t-shirts. Lost City Angels were your basic street punks from Boston, they used Dynamite Boy's gear and kicked out a few H2O/Dropkick Murphy's type tunes, a major refreasher from Breaking Pangea. Me and Eric were two of the THREE people that stood in front of the stage for Dynamite Boy, and I think Eric was their only fan, too. They did an alright set, except for the fact that they played two cover songs, one of which being a Backstreet Boys song they covered for the Pop Goes Punk cd. Halfway through they noticed Eric as the only one singing along, but then he asked them to play his favorite song by them, and they said their "new" drummer didn't know it or something... pretty lame if you ask me. After they were done, all the little emo fucks finally came up to the stage, typical little brats... never give the time of day to anyone except their "favorite bands". FSF broke out first with "Pictures of Shorelines" which was very nice. After their second tune, they brought out a cake for one of their friends in the audience and made everyone sing happy birthday to him. Then Chad Neptune decides to throw it in his face, but it just ends up all over the stage, face down, haha. While they were sitting there trying to clean it up with a towel, Jason says, "Couldn't you have waited until the END of the set? Now there's cake shit everywhere," very well said. After the fiasco, they kicked out the rest of their set with some new tunes added in, both of which seemed cool but I can't really remember. The guys from Dynamite Boy were trying to get them to do the N Sync song they covered on that Pop Goes Punk cd, in which Jason replied, "I dont know why you'd ask for that, we dont even know how it goes." Haha, well played. After the show, the guys from the Ottobar told everyone to buy their merch and get out, very kind of them. However, I would do the same if I had a gaggle of ugly kids in my club.
