"Are you ready to be liberated?" sings the Austalian born Brody Armstrong on the single "The Young Crazed Peeling". The best comparison I can think of for the Distillers sound is imagine Courtney Love singing for Rancid, who are playing an album that has a number of Hole covers. It's not bad, I actually kind of like her voice, ok I'll come clean...I always kind of liked Hole's punker/rawer songs. Sometimes the singer Brody sounds just like her husband Tim (of Rancid...how surprising). This album is chock full of upbeat hardcore anthems that make you feel good to sing along to. And Brody is kind of hot too, in a crustie sort of way. I'd look her up on suicidegirls.com. A very good album in my opinion, it dosen't sound like a "let's do this as a favor to Tim and sign his wife's band." They are actually very good.
