REVIEW:
This is one of the better live albums I've heard in a long time. Recorded over 3 nights (St. Patrick's Day Weekend, duh) at the Avalon in their hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, this album at times made me feel like I was actually there with them. The band knows how to get people into it at shows, that is for sure. Over the duration of the album, we hear everything from an onstage wedding proposal (accepted, of course), a shout out to the Boston Police Department, a shout out to the Boston Bruins hockey club, and more "OI OI's!" then you can shake a stick at. You can't dislike a band that's as involved in where they come from as the Dropkick Murphy's are either. Oh yeah, the album also has 26 songs, from their all out chants like "for boston" to traditional songs like "rocky road to dublin" and "amazing grace". They also cover Creedence Clearwater Revival's "fortunate son" and the Boston Bruins theme song. And of course the classics like "barroom hero" and "road of the righteous" are here too. All in all, their's no reason why even the most casual streetpunk fan shouldn't own this album, and there's even less reason to miss a Murphy's show when they come to your town.
