Two Things At Once is simply The Descendents first 3 releases all smashed together on one cd: The Fat EP, Bonus (Fat EP), and Milo Goes to College. This is about the most serious and straight ahead punk rock cd ever to grace the shelves of a record store. All 23 tracks, with the exception of the original 2 "Fat EP" tracks, are amazing tunes. This is The Descendents before they got all silly and when they concentrated on the things that matter most, fishing, girls and food. The only bad songs are the orignal Fat EP songs, the last 2 on the cd. I know its still the same band, but without Milo in the mix, you don't get the same energy. There's not much more you can say about these songs though, it might be hard to get into them because of the crappy sound quality, but you have to remember they were all recorded in the early '80s. But the songs are great, just listen to Live Plus One first, same songs, but better quality, it might help.

This is the finALL Descendents album of the 80's, featuring the current line up of the band. It is also marks the band's full realization of the concept of ALL, which had only been hinted at in their previous work. The words of the Basemaster General are transribed and documented in ALL-O-GISTICS, the ultimate guide for life under the sign of ALL. Aside from the whole ALL thing, this is probably the most dynamic album from the band. There are pure rock tunes, mixed in with some whimsical ones and for a first, we have some experimental material. Impressions is a complete departure from the Descendents' previous stuff, and is actually quite beautiful, featuring acoustic guitars and the like. And then you have Uranus, which is just completely experimental, there's no other explanation for it; it's like punk's version of bebop. There are a few spells of metal interlaced in here too, like in Jealous of the World, Schizophrenia, and the beginning of Cameage. Iceman is just a really weird track, the instrumentation is cool, but I'm not sure about "The Ice Man COMETH!!", a little hokey. Infact, there are some strange lyrics throughout the whole album, some laughable, some corny (ie. Pep Talk)... I don't know what Milo was going for with it. And there's a great joke thing in the middle of Schizophrenia, you gotta hear. Overall, this is a great album and deserves a full night of your listening attention to soak it all in.

Here it is, the complete history of the greatest band from California: The Descendents, all on one compact disc ( or 2 LP's). Don't you hate when a band puts out a greatest hits cd and they don't put the best tunes on it? Well that's not the case with Somery, Bill Stevenson produced the whole thing and he picked the utmost essential Descendents songs for this record. Spanning their entire 1980's catalog, all 28 of these songs represent every aspect of the band. From their first inception of ALL with "Weinerschnitzel" and "I Like Food", to their girl chasing epics like "Silly Girl," "Hope," and "Clean Sheets," to their infatuation with flatuence, "Enjoy," and finally to their dictation of the Bassmaster General himself in "All-O-Gistics." If you're new to the Descendents, this should be the first cd you buy. Despite the low-volume sound quality of these old recordings, this album is the best overall represenation of the proud... the few... the DESCENDENTS!

The Descendents are back and in full fucking effect! Everything Sux picks up right where they left off almost a decade after their last studio effort, ALL. This is a monumental album for punk rock, proving that a legend can come back to life and re-influence the punk scene all over again. But this is the Descendents as you've never heard them before. It seems that 10 years in the field of bio-chemistry has angered Professor Milo Aukerman to the extreme, and he expresses himself like an atomic bomb in tracks like "Everything Sux" and "This Place." They go for ALL or nothing with "Eunuch Boy" and "Coffee Mug," girls in "I'm the One" and "She Loves Me," and some new themes with "Thank You" and "When I Get Old." If you don't like old Descendents stuff, listen to this album... it'll blow your fucking mind.

Not an official Descendents release, this was the bonus disc in the ALL - Live Plus One album, but I like the Descendents more than ALL, so I'm reviewing this cd, haha. This is probably the most serious and rocking Descendents live album to date, recorded back in 1996 on their Everything Sux Tour, at the Whisky a Go-Go. It's very straight to the point as well, no mindless chit-chat between songs or anything, just track after track. It was recorded over 4 days, but was edited together to sound like they just played all 21 songs in a row, which sounds a lot better than Liveage! where you could hear the audience sounds fading in and out between tracks. They cover just about all their best songs, and even throw in Original Me, a very awesome ALL song. This album shows a more matured and driven Descendents... wait, I think they just broke one of the ALL-O-GISTICS ! No ALL !!!!
