REVIEW:
At first listen, the sloppy pop-punk of this early Gilman St. band dosen't seem very original at all. Featuring Bay Area staple Aaron Cometbus on drums, and a very imaginative bass player, this band is considered among the best to come out of this scene (which has also yielded bands like Green Day, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Screeching Weasel, etc.). The reason it dosen't seem original is because it sounds like what you would here if you went to a local pop-punk show tonite, one of those bands that dosen't have much talent and is generally very sloppy. The reason I can let this thought slide is that this album came out in 1988, making them among the bands that very much influenced pop-punk as a whole. The bass player is very good also, I'm sure either he either influenced Rancid bass god Matt Freeman, or it could be the other way around, but they have the same walking bassline style. This is definitely for fans of any Gilman/Bay Area/Lookout band, and can be deemed very influential.
