Common Rider
![]() This Is Unity Music (2002 Hopeless) BAND: jesse michaels (vocals, guitar) - mass giorgini (bass) - dan lumley (drums) TRACKLIST: firewall - set the method down - small pebble - cool this madness down - long after lights out - blackbirds vs. crows - time won't take away - prison break - midnight passenger - one ton - toss around - longshot REVIEW: Common Rider is what you get when you take the former singer of Operation Ivy and give him the rhythm section of Screeching Weasel. You come up with a 3 piece that offers up a very upbeat brand of ska, with some punk rock thrown in. This album is a bit harder than the first "Last Wave Rockers", and I think this fact makes it a better album in general. The melodies on tracks like "Cool This Madness Down" and "One Ton" are extremely fresh and, well, extremely refreshing also. In a time when there is a lot of garbage not only on the top, but also in the underground, I find this to be a very fun, healthy offering. If you liked Operation Ivy, like ska music (without the horns, of course) or like great melodies, you will most likely find this on your stereo more than once. |
