REVIEW:
This recording session took place at Omega Studios in Rockville, MD, circa 1980. Though it's only 5 songs long, it gives a real good insight into what the Bad Brains were about, and proved that 4 black guys could rock harder than anyone, before Ice-T's Body Count, Living Colour, etc. came along. It starts off with the strange and rocking 'I Against I', perhaps their best known song. Then come 2 straight ahead reggae influenced songs, very much Bob Marley style, but with a definite influence of the Clash's take on reggae. The last 2 songs are straight blazing punk tracks, keeping them in step with everything else coming out of Washington, DC, at the time. This is a great, although short, documentation of a classic hardcore band. All about having a P.M.A. (Positive Mental Attitude). It says in the liner notes that the person who convinced them to get back together in the mid-90's was Madonna, of all people. Pretty weird. Anyway, find this one and listen to how it used to be.
