RF dummy load 8W June 2007
This dummy load is for radio. Its function is as antenna to aborted the energy for SWR cal.

The DIY cost is low, only need resistor and BNC plug. The resistor must choose  non inductance.

The resistor is parallel connecting, If you want to make more power dummy load, parallel more resistor and keep total resistance is 50 ohm.

For example:

When using 4 piece 2W resistor to make 8W load.

1/(1/R1+1/R2+1/R3+1/R4) =50 ohm =1/ N/R = R/N (R is resistance for each resistor, N is number of resistor )

So, R=50 x N

1 piece resistance when 4 piece parallel connecting =50 ohm x 4 piece =200 ohm

Each resistor is 2W then total is 2W x 4 piece =8W

Also keep the wire as short as possible.

Taking your own risk.
