| Jesus is my best friend. Having been brought up in a God-fearing family, I've learned how to have a deep and meaningful relationship with God. I learned that becoming a Christian is not about following a whole set of do's and don'ts. I learned that becoming a Christian is not about going to church, leading a pious life and doing good works. Being a Christian, for me, is about my relationship with the one, true God -- Jesus. It's about giving Him first and full place in my heart. It's about letting Him behind the steering wheel of my life. Through all these years, Jesus has never failed me. He's there when I need Him most. He's blessed me beyond measure. He's poured out His unconditional love for me. He's truly the best friend I could ever have. |
The good news is that Jesus can be your best friend too. He loves you and has a plan for your life. He's gift of salvation is free for all who ask for it. Here's why you need this gift: God created man so that He could have a relationship with him. This relationship is called eternal life. But when sin came into the picture, and man chose to sin, he was separated from God, because God in His holiness cannot stand sin. This separation leads to eternal death. The Bible tells us that all of us, you and me, have sinned and fallen short of God's standard of perfection. And the wages of this sin is death. Man has through the ages always tried to find his way back to God. That's why there are so many religions in the world. Man do good works to earn merit. They pray, they attend religious events. But all these still fail to meet the mark. An illustration: Say there's a jumping competition between you, Michael Jordan and a kangaroo. Which one of you will win? Probably the kangaroo. But say the criterion for the competition is changed. The prize is only awarded to the one who can jump high enough to reach the moon. Most definitely all three contestants would fail. In the same way, while each of us may have different levels of "holiness", none of us are good enough to return to God. But all is not lost. God in His love and mercy decided that if we cannot return to Him, He will come to us. So He came down to earth as a man -- Jesus. And to pay for our sin, He took our place and died on a cross -- the most humiliating and painful torture of that time. Because of Jesus, there's now a bridge across the Great Divide. We now have a pathway to heaven. Not only will we enjoy God's blessings while on earth, but we can also be assured that when our earthly bodies fail, our spirits will spend eternity with God. The choice is now up to you: Will you believe in Jesus? Will you accept His gift? Just ask Him in to your heart: Lord Jesus, I confess I am a sinner. I know I cannot save myself. I believe You died for my sins. Right now, I receive You into my life as Lord and Saviour. Please forgive my sin and help me live for you. In your name I pray, Amen.
