| I was about 8 years old when my dad bought Poncho for me. He was a little pinto Shetland pony. He was pretty nice for a while, but eventually when he decided he wanted me off his back, he would lie down and start rolling. Dad sold him and bought Lucky. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Lucky was a also a Shetland pony, but with a nicer disposition. He was not the prettiest shaped pony (he was always overweight), but he was a lot of fun. He loved to ride in trailers, and if we took him for a ride, he would whinny with glee during the whole ride. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Diablo was not my pony. He belonged to my cousins, but I loved to ride him whever we visited them. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| This is Tulsa Squaw and her foal, Osage Penny. We had several Appaloosas when I was a child. Penny became my horse. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| This is Penny all grown up with her two foals, Flicka and Banner, both named for the "My Friend Flicka" series of books, of which I was a huge fan. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| This is Flicka as a weanling. She refused to allow a saddle on her back, and so was never ridden. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| These were my sister's horses: Thunder was her first horse. He was an Appaloosa, even though he didn't have many spots. Warrior was a lovely half POA and half Tennessee Walker with a wonderful gait. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| This was my brother in law's stallion, Hancock's Nugget. He was Flicka's sire. Both of her parents were very flashy, but for some reason, Flicka was born without any spots. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Johnny, my brother in law, also owned this mare, Cameo Lace. This picture does not do her justice. She was a very flashy horse. Cameo was Penny's half sister. |

| This is Mitzy. I only had a few pictures of her, and it was a very wet and muddy day when I took this one. She was half Arabian, and there is no polite way to say it -- she did not have all her marbles. We didn't keep her for more than a few months because she was so dangerous. She was difficult to ride because she was so spooky. On one occasion, she jumped the fence and kept going, jumping one fence after the other until she was finally apprehended near a busy street. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
