The non-violence campaign lead by Gandhi is still remembered as the most
peacefully and morally acquired victory by a colonized people over their
colonial overlords. Nevertheless, the restraint attained by nonviolence is
extremely rare and time-consuming; the repressed victims must resist bitter
insults, and impart to others the need to acknowledge their agony and suffering.
If the sufferers do not claim their essential rights, then the brutal maltreatments
can even be justified, and the assaulter will not cease to harass the injured.

If one does not defy or challenge ill treatment, spectators or judges may not
notice the pain that one has undergone, and, inversely, will regard the
sufferer as an accomplice of the situation. According to the constitution,
if a victim does not demonstrate the act of self-defense, he or she is under the
responsibility of the damages that they obtained. In a trial in 1998, it was disclosed
that a woman was raped, and after long investigation, her violator was found
and sued for her psychological trauma. However, the astounding result was
that she was unable to receive compensation for her impairment, because she did
not execute any conspicuous self-defense or resistance.

The only method to oppress the violence or outrage conducted by the offender
is to clarify ones claim for change. Like an old saying, The crying baby gets
the milk, without an autonomous attitude, one cannot expect improved treatment.
To illustrate, the Jews in From Night did not even attempt to rebel against the
Nazis, but just accepted mistreatment as their fate, thus the treatments got worse
daily (Wiesel 594-599). However, the Koreans in 1910 abhorred Japanese colonization,
hence antagonized by their abuse, they demanded independence. Although complete
alternation did not take place, Japan changed the policy of militaristic control
to cultural control, which was a slightly better condition.

Rebellion is the only agent whose mission is to enfeeble or ease cruel treatment.
Ill-treatment that is not met with defense or contention might be justified. On top,
severe cruelty can never be halted without the victims opposition.
In most cases, violence is not forgivable, except in order to repossess what is rightfully
ours; for lost rights, especially those deprived through extreme torture, insurrection
is the single key.
