Dialogue is written conversation between two or more characters. Dialogue is used in most forms of prose writing and also in narrative poetry. In case of From Night, the dialogue between the narrator and his father is vividly displayed. Realistic, well-placed dialogue enlivens narrative, descriptive, and expository prose and provides the reader with insights into characters personalities and relationships with one another. The dialogue can also reflect the time and place in which the action takes place, giving a richness and believability to the literary work.
An Example from the text:
Look, take this knife, he said to me. I dont need it any longer. It might be useful to you.
The fathers named is nominated on the list, and he may be killed, because a doctor thought that the father is unable to work any longer. Thus, the father attempts to hand down the inheritance to his son, and through the application of the dialogue, the readers can understand the situation better.
