 World Environment Day 2023

World Environment Day calls on all of us to protect our natural environment. The shocking facts are that approximately 7 million people die every year due to air pollution-related causes, most of them in the Asia-Pacific region. The day, which falls on June 5, encourages activism around the world. That means everything from littering to climate change. World Environment Day is an important platform for global celebration and public outreach. China, which now has half of the world's electric vehicles and 99 percent of the world's electric buses, hosted the 2019 event. This "country has shown tremendous leadership in tackling domestic air pollution," said UN Environment Executive Director Joyce Masuya. "It can help inspire the world to greater action now." World Environment Day was first established by the United Nations in 1972.
