This construction in this image is loosely based on the geometry of five intersecting tetrahedrons (see Trapped Sphere). Each triangle in the construction is offset a little from where a corresponding triangular face would go and the edges of the triangles are flexed in a way that allows the twenty triangles to be interwoven with each other. The result is a wonderfully convoluted shape that would be a gnarly woodcarving project or at least a good test for stereo lithography technology.
