| Left-handed: Ever use those cruddy little pairs of scissors to cut construction paper, or any other art project material back in elementary school? I seem to remember that they were usually dull, poorly fabricated and were likely to give you a blister after cutting through just a couple of pages. In fact, they were usually loose enough to fold back 180 on themselves, or maybe they were loose because students occasionaly would try to fold them into this position (I recall the teachers tried to discourage this, but with little success). In any case, my kindergarten class had an overabundance of the left-handed version of these. Whether the materials acquisition folks in our district had a misconception of the ratio of right to left-handed students or the kindergarten class just ended up with the dregs of the school supplies is likely to forever remain a mystery. I don't have any recollection of ever having been punished for misuse of school materials, but I am sure I would have been sent to the principal's office if I had ever constructed anything remotely like this image, even though it would have been a better use for them ;) |
