This image is easier to understand at a more distant viewpoint, but I like the corridor effect created close in at this angle.
Each segment follows a path that intersects each orthogonal axis twice, once on each side of the origin, with each point spaced a little farther out. All segments are self similar with a scale that increases about 62% (Fibonacci ratio) for each successive step out from the origin. The final construction is three of these sequences overlapping in different orientations that gives it the space filling feel.
