| Tzin and Tzang: This image is a pair of virtual sculptures. The tubular support structure suggests that these could be fountains, but I don't have the capability to easily render spraying water, so they are not turned on at the moment. Except for the color, they are almost exact mirror images of each other. This is one of those constructions that has a right and left hand version depending on the twist, so I decided to use both. I was inspired to make the base construction (twenty triangles that each have their vertices at the midpoint of the side of another) by a modular origami construction made from pentagon-hexagon zig-zag or "PHiZZ" units. The thirty unit construction forms a dodecahedron, however the weave of the units creates a twist to the pentagonal opening on each face similar to what you see in my models. If interested in modular origami constructions, you can find out more about the PHiZZ unit at: |
