MISCELLANY
1. Dante is easily distinguished as alive by the dead (with the exception of Guido da Montefeltro, who cannot see the poet through the flames). He cites a number of different attributes that are noticeably of the living:
-His weight makes Phlegyas' boat dip more than usual (Canto VIII)
-He dislodges stones when he walks (Canto XII)
-His throat moves with breath and pulse (Canto XXIII)
-A blow from his foot surprises the shades with its impact (Canto XXXII)
