| 1. Mercy's Meaning: |
| A. It is not: emotional weakness or feelings |
| B. It is: the ability to empathize with help; reaching out to meet a need whether they understand it or not |
| 2. Mercy's Model: (following Christ's example, we want to: ) |
| A. Recognize peoples' needs |
| B. Reflect on how it feels to have those needs |
| C. Respond with love that will meet the need |
| 3. Mercy's Methods |
| A. WATCH!! Be observant, always on the lookout for people's needs |
| B. STOP!! Take a time out from your agenda. Don't fly past hurting people. |
| C. FEEL!! (empathy) Put yourself in their place. Imagine how they hurt. Let yourself feel. |
| D. THINK!! Figure out what you can say or do to help and encourage the person. |
| E. ACT!! Do something! Any action motivated by love is better than nothing! |
| grace - getting what you don't deserve |
| mercy - not getting what you do deserve |
| BUT... it has to start with God!! |
