The Dark Mountain Passage
As
the winds of the blackened skies
Sweep
the planes below
I
scale the dark lonely mountain
Where
the brave dare not go
The
icy air freezes my lungs
As
I near the heavily blocked door
Of
stone it was carven eons ago
To
insure entrance no more
I
read the ancient incantation
It
slides away with ease
I’m
sure I’m growing nearer
I
feel the fiery breeze
As
I descend into the corridor
Flat
stone on all sides
It grows warmer and warmer
Straight ahead my enemy abides
Its
almost unbearable now
As
I approach my enemy’s lair
Unimaginable
wealth, though
Is
now my only care
Gleaming
gold and precious things
Scattered
at my feet
But
the dragon lies wide awake
On
the largest treasure heap
I
draw my sword and ready my attack
But
the dragon’s a step ahead
I’m
nearly scorched to death
Up
the tunnel by flame I’m lead
The
Dragon takes to the air
In
his massive hall of stone
He
hovers upright above his treasure
And
his weakness I am shown
He
has no armour on part of his side
To
hide from me he’s failed
For
now I know how to slay him
From
this I will avail
I
draw my bow and blackened arrow
Taking
my best aim
For
I am a master archer
For
this I’ve earned great fame
The
arrow sails from the humming bow
Meeting
its deadly mark
Striking
the dragon to the ground
And
falling in the dark
The
final cries of a dying beast so old
Echoes
through the mountain hall
I
stand satisfied and proud
As it gives out a final wicked call
