                   *** IMPORTANT ***

Make sure that you load the Add-In (PSYCH.XLA) before
you try to use Psych.XLT. If you don't you will get a
series of ugly error messages warning of impending
spreadsheet doom.

The Psychrometric Function Library and associated
spreadsheet template were written for use with Microsoft
Excel Ver. 97. Sorry but they will not work with other Excel
versions. If you have a great need for a version that is
compatible with Version 7.0, let us know at:

               psych@kw-energy.com.

QUICK & DIRTY HOW-TO:
************************************************************

(1) Unzip the self-extracting PSYCH.EXE file.

(2) Move PSYCH.XLA to Excel's Library directory & load the
Add-In. Add-Ins are found under the "Tools" menu selection.
If there aren't other *.XLA files in the directory then you
probably have the wrong one.

(3) Move PSYCH.HLP to the same directory as Excel's help files
This will make context-sensitive help available for the
psychrometric functions. You can double click on this file
at any time to open the windows help file.

(4) Move PSYCH.XLT to Excel's Spreadsheet Solutions
directory. Select "File" and "New" and select the
"Spreadsheet Solutions" tab to open a new spreadsheet for
psychrometric charts and calcs.

************************************************************
STEP BY STEP HOW-TO:
************************************************************

(1) Unzip the PSYCH.EXE file
Copy it to the directory where you want the files to unzip &
then double click on the file name. You can put the files
anywhere you like for now - we will move some of them in a
minute. It should include the following files:

PSYCH.XLA (Add-In)
PSYCH.XLT (Spreadsheet Template)
REGISTER.XLS (fax-back registration form)
PSYCH.HLP (Windows help file)
README.TXT (this file)

(2) Move PSYCH.XLA to the MS Excel Add-In directory
For most installations this will be the directory:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Library

The correct directory will already have several add-ins
in it that come with Excel. You can recognize them by the
.XLA file extension.

(3) Move PSYCH.HLP to the MS Excel help directory
For most users this will be the directory:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office

The correct directory will contain the Excel help files
(XLMAIN8.HLP and others with the HLP extension).

You can double click on PSYCH.HLP at any time to open the
windows help file for the psych functions library. Context
sensitive help will be available within Excel.

(4) Start Excel
If it is already running, close and restart it.

(5) "Add" the Add-In
From the Excel menu choose "Tools" and then "Add-Ins". For
some reason most computers pause at this point for a really
long time (with or without the psych library). Don't panic
if yours does too. Check the option that says "Psychrometric
Functions Library" and press the "OK" button. Now the
psychrometric functions are available in Excel.

Note that you must have at least one spreadsheet open for
the "Add-Ins" menu selection to be available. Only the code
gurus at Microsoft know why.

(6) Move or Copy "PSYCH.XLT" to the MS Excel Spreadsheet
Solutions directory. For most installations this will be the
directory:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\Spreadsheet Solutions

You should see other *.XLT files in the directory if you
have the right one. This step makes the spreadsheet
available as a template when you select "File" and "New"
from the Excel menu.
