One of the greatest times of fellowship our Ladies Group ever had was when we made 48 quilts for one of our local nursing homes . When we first started , none of us had much of a clue what to do . We all learned together and our efforts were more lovely the more we made . As each quilt was completed it was hung in our sanctuary so we could encourage others in our church to lend a hand . The most wonderful part was when we gave them out . The residents loved them and it seemed like the more we gave out the more we had to give . A real fish and loaves story . My one regret from this was that we didn't get any pictures of our group making or handing out the quilts . This is a wonderful ministry for your group to try . Find a nursing home or hospital where maybe the patients don't have any family to supply extra blankets ( believe it or not , extras aren't free for the patients ) . Don't let a lack of experience discourage you .
On this page you will find links to free quilt patterns and such . Don't be worried if you can't do elaborate designs , simple large squares of different patterns or color are easy to sew together . If lap quilts seem too much of a task , try to make baby quilts . Remember , Jesus loves you SEW much !
