| THE EMPTY CRIB I loved you from the very start, You stole my breath, then broke my heart. As I was with child, I thought of you, But when you left my world was blue. I'll never watch you while you sleep, Your crib is empty, for that I weep, I'll never teach you how to pray, Or walk and talk and play each day. I dreamed of things that we could share And how I'd rock you in my chair, I'll never see your pretty face, Or hold you close, in sweet embrace, I'll never watch you drink your milk, Or stroke your hair, as soft as silk. Your crib is empty, little one, Because I know that you have gone To that great heaven, up above, Where every day I send my love. Yes you are in God's Holy land, He came to earth and took your hand. Your crib is empty, that I see, You sleep in Heaven's nursery. By Dawn Glenton |
| How Can I? How can I ever just stop loving The ones that now make me so sad? How can I ever stop really hurting And thinking that life is so bad? Is there a life here without you? Are you sure I will see you again? How do I know if you miss me And love me and live without pain? How can I wake in the morning And bask in the glorious sun? Do you know it is harder than iron To live without being a 'mum?' Was I just not meant to be caring, And gentle to little ones born? How can I live on here without you, My life and my heart all forlorn? Are you really up there with the Angels Just playing and waiting for me? Is there really a Lord in that Heaven With a place He has saved just for me? How can I go on living without you? I'll tell you my sweet little dears, I BELIEVE that what's said in the bible, And God will wipe all of my tears. Together we'll chase all the rainbows And we WILL find that old pot of gold, And beauty and love will surround us In a place where we never grow old. I WILL wrap my arms round you tightly Embracing you all with my love, That glorious day I'm a mummy To all of my Angels above. By Dawn Glenton |
