1917 Guiding was first introduced by Miss Gertrude Ballard, a teacher at Methodist Girls school, Kuala Lumpur. The first Guides company was founded by Miss Ballard. Miss Dorothy Prudy became captain of the company which was registered under the Girl Guides Headquarters in India. Mrs. J. Cavendish was appointed Organising Commissioner for Malaya.
1919-1925 Guiding was founded in the state of Penang (1919). Two years later, the movement spread rapidly throughout the country: state of Perak (1921), Negeri Sembilan (1924), Malacca (1925), Kedah and Johor (1932). 1920: First Brownie pack in Kuala Lumpur 1923: First Cadet company in Penang 1925: First Ranger unit in Penang of which Mrs. P.M. Robinson became the leader
1934 Lord and Lady Baden-Powell's first visit to Malaysia (then known Malaya)
1942-1945 The 2nd World War extended to Southeast Asia and Malaya was occupied by the Japanese. Girl Guiding was disrupted.
1948-1960 Emergency was declared due to the attacks of communists. Guiding was again disrupted
