1917
Guiding was first introduced by Miss Gertrude Ballard, a teacher at Methodist Girls school, Kuala Lumpur. The first Guides company was founded by Miss Ballard. Miss Dorothy Prudy became captain of the company which was registered under the Girl Guides Headquarters in India. Mrs. J. Cavendish was appointed Organising Commissioner for Malaya.

1919-1925
Guiding was founded in the state of Penang (1919). Two years later, the movement spread rapidly throughout the country: state of Perak (1921), Negeri Sembilan (1924), Malacca (1925), Kedah and Johor (1932).
1920: First Brownie pack in Kuala Lumpur
1923: First Cadet company in Penang
1925: First Ranger unit in Penang of which Mrs. P.M. Robinson became the leader

1934
Lord and Lady Baden-Powell's first visit to Malaysia (then known Malaya)

1942-1945
The 2nd World War extended to Southeast Asia and Malaya was occupied by the Japanese. Girl Guiding was disrupted.

1948-1960
Emergency was declared due to the attacks of communists. Guiding was again disrupted

1950
Guiding movement resumed after world war. Membership increased tremendously. Nine Guides and eight leaders participated in the International Camp in Australia. It was Malaya Girl Guides' first participation in an international event. Five members received the Queen Guide Award. The blue coloured uniform was introduced.

1958
Lady Baden-Powell visited Malaya for the second time and toured Kelantan, Penang and Malacca.

1960
Malaya became a Tenderfoot member of WAGGGS

1962
Malaya hosted the Head of Girl Guides Conference in Kuala Lumpur.

1963
Declaration of Malaysia. The Malaya Girl Guides Association was renewed to Malaysia Girl Guides Association.

October 1966
During the International Conference in Tokyo, Malaysia was declared a full member of WAGGGS.

April 1967
The National Golden Jubilee was held in Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Guiding in Malaysia

1969
The Malaysia Girl Guides Association Headquarters, located in Kuala Lumpur was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen of Agung, Tengku Intan Zaharah.

1976
MGGA participated in the welcoming of Queen Elizabeth ll and the Duke of Edinburgh to Malaysia.

1977
The Diamond Jubilee was held

1980
The President of the Commonwealth Girl Guides, Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon visited the MGGA headquarters. MGGA attended the International Conference in Paris.

1981
The National Ranger Guides Seminar was held in Sarawak. The National Girl Guides Jamboree in Selangor was attended by members from the Asia Pacific region.

1982
Year of the publication of 'Berita Pandu Puteri' (literally translated as Girl Guides News) magazine. Trefoil Guild was founded in March.

1984
Malaysia attended the Commonwealth Chief Commissioners Conference in Canada and the International Conference in New York. The title Brownie was replaced with 'Tunas Puteri'.

1985
New uniforms were designed for Brownies, Girl Guides and Guiders.

1986
Attended the Juliet Low Seminar in Mexico. The International Fellowship of Former Scouts and Guides was established in Kuala Lumpur on February 14.

1987
A massive celebration throughout the country to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Girl Guiding in Malaysia.
