Version 7.0 : Accidental Records
I'm reeeally proud of this layout :D I kinda went for the same approach as the previous layout - a little computer-game-like landscape, all drawn in MS Paint. The last one took several months, due to my indecisiveness; but the bulk of this one only took one weekend, followed by a few weeks of much tweaking. I wanted it to be an extension of the last layout; that one was a building with a skyline above it; the idea with this one is that it could be the inside of that building, like a microcosm.
It's inspired mainly by the film High Fidelity; I've always loved the idea of having my own record store, and if I can't have a real one, I can at least have a little virtual one :) The quote in the main page title bar is one of my favourite lines in the film. The quote on the splash page title bar is kind of a quip - it's a line I like from a Lo Fidelity Allstars record. High/Lo Fidelity...? I'm sorry. :)
As with the previous layout, almost everything is drawn in MS Paint, the only exception being the record covers and posters, which are copied and pasted from music sites - some of these link to my favourite bands' websites. The sticker collage on the front panel of the paydesk was originally going to be the entire layout; I was going to have a collage of my favourite things, with content worked into it. But I changed my mind, and when I came up with this layout, I wanted to incorporate it, so I scaled it down and included it. If you look closely at the collage you can see some of my favourite bands and movies etc - again, some taken from music/film sites, and some photographed from my cd collection or bedroom walls. :)
