Gig photography

Isn't gig photography the best thing ever? I could really look at it for hours. I'm not a "photography person" - I don't go googlybear over random pictures of brick walls or random people or mirrors or consciously arty shots - but I LOVE beautiful gig photography - capturing the one single moment the band you're watching just *click* and go from being scummers in a touring band to being deities, to being someone's lifeblood - just for one brief flicker of time, before they revert to scummer mode.

Whenever I actually get round to doing any drawing or painting, it's usually from gig photos - photos I wish I'd taken, photos that are so pretty they make me want to re-create them myself. A good photo isn't necessarily a clear one or one with "appropriate" lighting - it's a beautiful or arresting image. Sometimes the shittiest lighting can lead to amazing photos, as shown below.

These are all photos that I think are utterly beautiful for one reason or another - be it gorgeous, weird lighting [I'm a sucker for colour], or just the sheer action or poise in the photo. They're mostly of bands that I like. Note: I do not claim ownership or copyright of these photos - unless otherwise stated, these were NOT taken by me. Copyright belongs to the respective owners.
