As you can see this bike is not shiny (most of it is flat black).
'84 Ironhead XLH 1000cc
Almost new S&S Super E Carb
Almost new HD Forward Controls
Frame is raked out

The Good:
I picked this bike up from a garage a year ago for $2,500(plus tax). The bike had been laid down with only minor damage (slightly bent handle bars, ding in the gas tank & bent front fender). I cut the bend out of the front fender, put in a new battery, installed new HD forward controls and the bike ran fine and passed the state inspection. About 2 months ago I bought a new S&S Super E Carb. To date I have a little over $4,000 in the bike.

The Bad:
The bike has some electrical problems. The starter which has worked without any problems all season, stopped spinning two weeks ago (when you push the starter button the headlights don't dim and the starter doesn't spin). Also when I was on vacation 3 weeks ago, the last day we were riding the bike began to hesitate (when I would give it gas it would slow and then speed up). I don't have any idea what is causing the hesitation, it may be as simple as dirty points or an improperly adjusted carb. What I do know is that the bike was running great (lots of power, never once failed to start or left me stranded) all season. I found in my Clymer's manual how to troubleshoot the starter problem but I am too ignorant to understand what the directions entail. Although I would like to have more time to learn how to work on bikes, with  my first kid on the way I don't see it happening any time soon. I loved riding this bike all season. With the rake in the frame you could glide the road going 90mph and feel like it was 35mph.
