1997 Chateau Souverain Alexander Valley Merlot

Tasting notes: This merlot exemplifies the classic black cherry, blueberry and plum aromas that Alexander Valley is known for. The ripe fruit impression is supported by thick, round tannins and nuances of sweet, toasty French oak.
Our notes: This is a nice inexpensive Merlot perfect for dinner, ideally prime rib or a nice steak. This wine is good enough to drink on its own, but it is a much better compliment to a nice meal.

1997 Rombauer Merlot

Tasting notes: The lively, full-structured juicy blend of ripe, red raspberry and blackberry flavors creates a full, well-rounded wine with a lingering finish.
Our notes: We have yet to find a Rombauer wine that we haven't fallen in love with. The 97 Merlot is no exception. It is a complex Merlot that is very well-rounded. This is the perfect fireplace wine. If you want to get lucky, this one is for you. The wine is seductive, and so will your date be. This will be a well-spent $25.
