Bernadette writes: "How did you turn your poems into music and have guitar, bass, and drums play along to it. I write a lot of poems (similar to yours) And i also play guitar but i can never give my poems a rythme and turn them into songs. You are very talented ! I hope one day i will make it big like you!" -- there really is no easy answer to this ... i suppose its just sheer determination ... i just followed my instincts ... listened to the muses ... forced myself to never fear failure ... in fact, i hoped for it ... for only thru failing can we ever succeed ... write on ... fight on ... Bert writes: "what are the chances of me getting you to draw me a picture? i'm wanting to get some of your art tattoo'd but i am not sure what to get...and i'd really like something personally from you...i know that's a tough one with you being on the road and all...but you never know until you ask right?" -- its very difficult for me to honor these types of requests ... i apologize ... but i am very busy focusing on touring, maintaining my tour diaries, updating the website, administering other aspects of our tour and band duties, and keeping the label honest and committed to their responsibilities ... building an empire is no easy task ... but there are several illustrations of mine on our website www.otep.com that u can use for any tattoo work u'd like ... i think they are in the shadow soldiers section ... thank u for believing in what we do and supporting the message we have ... Mike writes: "Hey Otep, After Ozzfest, do you guys plan to spread the knowledge with your own headlining tour?" -- we've just been added to the 2nd half of the Ozzfest tour so plans of doing our own headlining tour have to be reorganized ... i've heard that our agents might want us to invade Europe again ... but one thing is certain ... we will be touring quite a bit to support our record SEVAS TRA ... Perfect Sin writes: "yeah i was wondering if u were going to do ne shows around the pacifice coast side...i know tons of ppl here who love u im one of them ur like my idol....but yeah it would be so awesome if u came to oregon or some where around here...thanks" -- yes, as stated earlier, we were just added to the 2nd half of the Ozzfest tour ... we will be infecting the west coast this summer with our sweet disease ... hope to see u there ... shedding your skin and burning in the pit ... Daffney writes: "I was wondering, did you ever sing with Slipknot, or Kittie at Ozzfest? Or for that matter, any bands at Ozzfest? Also, is Sharon Osbourne doing ok right now?" -- yes, last year we toured with Slipknot on Ozzfest 2001 ... and we shared the 2nd stage with Kittie earlier this year when we toured with the UK Ozzfest ... we were very proud to be on the same tour with these two bands ... as for Mrs. Osbourne, our hopes and thots and love are with Sharon and her family ... she means a lot to me ... i know she is going to beat this ... Keri writes: "how does it feel to be the only female in a band like otep?" -- i don't really ever think about it on that level ... i'm an artist ... and it feels amazing to be a part of something this special ... i am very blessed ... Kelsi writes: "How was it during Ozzfest? Was Ozzy a nice guy and did you meet all of the Osbournes? I LOVE THEM! Thanks" -- Ozzfest is a blessing for us ... we are very appreciate of this opportunity ... the crowds have been amazing ... wild, uncontrollable ... very enthusiastic ... true believers in our swift art of mental alchemy ... i have not had the pleasure of meeting Ozzy ... but i know Sharon and Jack and Kelly ... they are fantastic people ... and i am proud to know them ... What inspires you to write such delectable masterpieces?" -- thank u for your kind wurdz ... writers, i believe, are very sensitive to their surroundings ... we are pure observers ... whether we like it or not ... we are cerebral sponges ... soaking up the world around us ... the things we see, the things we hear, our experiences, our pain, our joy ... we are social commentators ... filling our souls with an alchemical stew ... trance-forming the bits - making them our own ... and spilling them out on a bed of paper from the willing ink of a very good pen ... poetry is the perfume of the soul . |
