| When People Take Things Too Personally: Sunday, May 5, 2002 8:15pm | ||||||
| People, I am trying. I'm trying not so say things that you don't want me to say. I'm trying to put myself in your head, and in your place. But Jesus Christ, cut me some slack sometimes. You have to remember that I do not want to hurt your feelings, and just because I think differently than you, and I say it, doesn't mean I am trying to attack you when I express my opinion, just as you are not trying to hurt my feelings when you express your opinion. Simple as that. So next time I say something that offended you in some way, 1) Think: Did she mean to hurt my feelings by that? and then 2) Tell me how you feel. I assure you that if you tell me not to do something with reason being that it hurts you in some way, I will try not to do it again. Then, if I do it again, repeat the process and eventually whatever it was that you didn't like will probably go away. The kind of this problem was Brandan from work. Everything I said he took as a personal insult. Please don't do that. If you say something dumb, and I tell you you said somethind dumb, do that take that to mean that I think you are an idiot and that I am far smarter than you. I would tell anyone who said something dumb that they said something dumb. "So why does it have to be so personal?" |
