The car was home now and the bay had been painted. I went away for two weeks overseas, when i left the bay hadn't been touched - the motor was still in and all. Dad had the motor pulled out and got to work. The shocker towers were fully seam welded and most other seams and holes were filled. Unfortunately not knowing the car that well and not knowing where things were going to be mounted meant that alot of the things that could have been done weren't. Also this was afterall as i've said just a daily driver and never intended to be anything that good. Just neat and clean. The colour of choice was a Barina colour off of a 92ish model i think. Black with a blue pearl. A couple of teaspoons of shimmering blue pearl lightended it up enough and got rid of the dirtiness in the colour.
The car was home and we decided to get a start on the trim side of things. A full day spent going to every Jap wrecker in Adelaide paid dividends, and as always it's the first place you go to that you end up buying from! 96 Celica seats were purchased from A1 Auto parts for a bargain at $165 the pair. They didn't need trimming and a quick vac brought them up like new. The use of high tensile steel and the mig saw them fit nicely and only took the best part of a day. Nice and snug too.
The dash was replaced with a second handy that wasn't in bad nick, bita bog and voila! It was painted, along with the console and shifter surround in Commodore bumper bar grey. Highlights were done in Mitsi Mirage silver.. Next jobs to be done were the shortening of the shifter and fitting of the carpet.
