let me first say, about the story when i first about the story. of course, i saw clint east-wood on none other than mtv. i downloaded 'tomorrow comes today' and said to myself, "i'll just by the damn cd!" i thought those 2 songs were great. why not buy the whole album? they're songs should be just as great. i've come to the conclusion that that is true. my mom was gonna buy me this, but one look at the parental advisory sticker and she said no. i came back to the same store and bought it with my dad. (good old papa) anyway, this was the day i was going to florida so listening to this album for the first time when you're flying is a great experience. |

"re-hash" from the first few seconds of this song with the cute bass line and drums and the three little guitar riffs made this song great. it's very catchy. proof that guitar CAN be mixed with hip hop. "5/4" another proof that guitar can be mixed with hip hop. but this captures more of the dark pop of gorillaz rather than the zombie hip hop of it. it's another good jam. it reminds me of re-hash, but not in a bad way or nothing. "she turned my dad on!!!" "tomorrow comes today" ah, the first single of the gorillaz, of course my american ass didn't recognize. the song starts with russel doing a real laid back hip hop beat then keyboards and harmonica to set the mood. somewhat of a melancholy song, but definitely 'bob yo' head' song. "new genious (brother)" i didn't really notice the song while listening to the cd over and over. i never really sang the lyrics back to 2D that is until i bumped this in my cousin's song, i've come to see it's true intention. a very tight hip hop jam. "clint eastwood" what can i say? i think the song speaks for itself!! it's a great song, though i'm upset over the fact that it used to be played on some pop-ish radio station i know. anyway, this song is definitely one of their best songs, i believe it's their most popular. "man research (clapper)" this song doesn't stand out much to me. it doesn't really make sense, too. what the hell is "tafu"?? tell me!! "punk" i don't see why this song wasn't called punk (clapper). it has the clapping part in it!! i luv this song cause it's really hyped up and upbeat and shit. the only thing i don't like is it's short. about a minute and a half. "sound check (gravity)" fuck. this song's great. 2D's vocals seems to haunt me but the scratches on this song is just too great. this has the best turntable- ness out of all their songs. "double bass" finally, an instrumental track! wait, there's that dude who says those few lines... this song's pretty good. if only i could imitate noodle's guitar effects!!! "rock the house" definitely a GET DOWN song. you're either dancing to this song or rhymin along with del (perhaps even doing the rap hand move ments). i love the horns on this song. has an ol skool feel to it somehow. "19/2000" this song is definitely a dark pop song. it has a cute feel to it, i remember hearing the line "the world is spinning too fast" while going on a street that turned in a circle. "latin simone (que pasa contigo)" a song both me and dad would love. i love the ibrahim ferrer on vocals. it's great they actually have an international track on the album. "starshine" starts out from a drum machine i think. it doesn't sound like acoustic drums. mainly has a simple guitar part with the bass and 2D's haunting vocals once again. "slow country" god i love this song. i had to learn this on the keyboards because it was so great. i love everything about this song. the bass, the drums, the lyrics, the synthesizer, the wind effecty thingy, and definitely the part after 2D's keyboard solo where it goes, bom bom!! "M1A1" to me, the beginning part gets annoyint to me, but i like the amped up part where the annoying part ends. "dracula" the beginning part is so weird!! but i luv it because i like weird things. i swear i've heard a part in this song that came from my first ever video game, "zombies ate my neighbors." good game. "left hand suzuki method" i swear that's a bong in the beginning. i heard a rumor that 2D got in a car accident and couldn't record this song. i guess that's why there's noodle on vocals. overall this album is for the weird kids who like creepy music consisting of samples from zombie movies. the music is about zombies and werewolves and such, too. what a plus! |
