i recently bought gorillaz newest cd "g-sides" as soon as i could get my hands on it! it's a collection of some rare gorillaz songs and remixes that you can only get on the singles.
the first song "19-2000 (soulchild remix)" is a pretty cool mix of the original with a hyper beat to it. latin simone is an english version (no, it's not translated from spanish) with the same music and just as good as the original, just not as exotic. another 19-2000 mix "19-2000 (wiseguys house of wisdom remix)," this doesn't sound too much like the original mix, and has a pretty annoying little part where something is being repeated a million times, but other than that, it's a cool mix. "the sounder" is an awesome rap song that will make you want to rap along with it, one of my favorites. "faust" is a calm, relaxing song with a nice tune (noodle
singing in japanese!). "clint eastwood (phi life cypher remix)" doesn't really follow the actual song, but that's no reason at all to not like this addictive rap song. although a classic-type song that newer generations may not warm up to quickly, you'll find yourself listening to "ghost train" over, and over, and over again. i don't really understand "hip albatross," which is centered around the theme of monsters i guess. it's kinda weird, and boring to me, but there are definitely some gorillaz fans that will probably like this song. personally, i think gorillaz could do better. hmmmm... "12D3" is a moderate song that's not one of the best songs, yet it's not one of the worst. but don't get discouraged because soon you'll find yourself humming this laid back song or randomly saying "12D3". i know i did!
well to sum it up, "g-sides" by gorillaz is a must-have, with nine great tracks so go out and buy it! (if you haven't already bought the singles!)
