| As with any RPG video game that you play, you will at some point or another in the game be able to change the status of your enemy or in some cases, your own party. Final Fantasy 8 is by no means different than the rest in this aspect of gameplay. There are thirteen (13) different types of status in the game, and all will be explained. Take note that ailments and esuna magic in particular will aid you to obtain a normal status if something were to occur. |

| Description The character does nothing except attacks the enemy. The character cannot see the enemy and misses a lot of the time. The character will sometimes attack his or her own party. The character will die when the timer reaches 0. The character is restricted from the use of abilities other than attack. The character is dead and cannot attack the opponents. The character will turn to stone when the timer reaches 0. The character gradually loses HP every turn until it is healed or the character dies. The character cannot choose any options other than attack in battle. The character visits the sandman and cannot attack during battle until it is over. The character goes through a drastic drop in speed for a lengthy amount of time. The character goes through a stop in his or her ATB guage during battle. The character grows vulnerable to curative magic and items. |
