More about me

I suppose my first brush with goalies consisted with playing in goal on the school hockey team several (!) years ago - I wasnt brilliant in net BUT it was the one sport I was any good at! Moving on several years & supporting the Trafford Metros my Season Ticket seat was actually a standing spot behind the home goal, therefore giving me a definite goalie-watch spot. Im sure many of you remember Colin Downie from Manchester Storm early days - although not the Worlds best net-minder he did have his moments (not all good!).

As far as Felix Potvin goes, well, as I wrote on the opening page of this site, I saw the Leafs play at Wembley, and that was when I became a fan of Felix! The following year we took a trip Toronto, and were lucky to not just get tickets for a couple of home games BUT blag our way into a optional training session. During this session we got talking to Peter Zezel (a big football fan) & he invited us back to the following days main training session. I took many photos - some of which are featured on here somewhere & got to meet Felix & all the other Leafs.

Well the final question - Why Goalies? out of all the positions - I think they are the most fascinating to watch, with their superstitions & funny quirks, and they are always of a different breed (what do you mean mad?!?) In my opinion they have the most important job on the ice - and if I had my time over again, I would have paid more attention to my Dad when he tried to teach me to ice-skate at an early age! Enjoy my page & let me know if you have anything of interest on Felix, or if you have any Felix trading cards, which you think I may be interested in.
