Florida East Coast Rwy - A Personal Perspective
Fort Pierce YardThe Fort Pierce Yard

Visit the Fort Pierce yard, in the 1980's. At about a hundred miles away from my home, this large facility was the farthest FEC destination I could get to and back in one day and have plenty of time to spend there. Fortunately this was a great opportunity for seeing many of the older GP-9s, as by 1990 their days on the FEC Railway were numbered. This yard was also a prize for finding plenty of interesting MOW (Maintainence of way) cars.
Enjoy my collection below of scenes from the yard at Fort Pierce.

FEC #667 is parked outside the office building near the south end of the yard. I've always found at least one of the old GP-9's posing here every time I've come to visit.

FEC #3791, an express boxcar still in the grey/blue paint scheme, takes the sideing near the north end. Further down is really old #7181, unmoved for years.

FEC #666 has switching duties in 1994, posing against a background of a seemingly endless line of aggregate hoppers.
