Robert Henry Combs was born June 8, 1898 in Henrico County, Virginia to Henry P. Combs and Sallie L. Whiteside.  His brothers and sisters are John, James, Eva and Mary.

Corrine Virginia Harris was born May 26, 1908 in Richmond, Virginia to
Lycurgus and Emma (Miller) Harris.  Her brothers and sisters are Martin Luther, Robert Lee, Lillie Obedience, Floyd Mercer, Roland M., Alice Elizabeth, Maude Jeanette, Elsie Lucille, Charles Lycurgus, and Agnes.

On November 8, 1924, Robert, then 25 and Corrine, then 17, were married in Henrico County, Virginia.  They settled in Virginia and had three children, Robert, Jr., Doris Odell (Dot), and
Joyce Virginia.

In 1934, Corrine underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor.  She did not survive that surgery.  She left behind her husband and three small children.

About 1935, Robert married Gladys (Neg) Tyler.  She had a daughter, Kathleen Adickes, and together they had seven more children, Louis, Sallie, Ronald, twins, Joan and John, Mary, and Shirley.

This family of 13 lived on the meager wages Robert brought home as a carpenter, painter, and truck driver for Marsh Dairy.  For years, Robert, Jr., Doris and Joyce found solace in the home of their granny, Emma (Miller) Harris, Corrine's mother.  She was loving and kind and nurtured them in their mother's absence.

Corrine died on August 28, 1934 in Richmond, Virginia of a brain tumor, and is buried at Oakwood Cemetery.

Robert died January 26, 1966 in Williamsburg, Virginia of lung cancer, and is also buried at Oakwood Cemetery.

Gladys Tyler died approximately 2001.
