Early Years

 

                       

Frederick (Farookh) Bulsara 
Born 5th September 1946 at the Government Hospital on the small island Zanzibar. Family: Father Bomi and mother Jer, sister Kashmira (born 1952) 

Schools: At the age of five Freddie attended Zanzibar Missionary School. At the
age of eight when Freddie and his family moved to Bombay, India he went to St Peter´s boarding school in Panchgani just outside Bombay. 

In India he excelled
especially in sport, (boxing and table tennis) as well as Art, History and the English language. At an early age Freddie had artistic skills and took piano lessons. According to Freddie his time at the boarding school was quite good,but also very hard. He once said: "One thing boarding schools teaches you is how to fend for yourself and I did it from a very early age. It taught me to be independent and not to have to rely on anybody else". 
   At the age of sixteen Freddie and his family moved to Feltham, Britain. He went to Isleworth School and three years later he studied Graphic illustrating at
Ealing College of Art. 

In 1969 Freddie left the college with a diploma in graphic
art and design. 

Early bands 
Freddie formed his first band at school in India, they called themselves The Hectics and played mainly at school dances. 
During the late 1960s Freddie joined his first band IBEX and Sour Milk Sea and Wreckage. 
In less than seven months Freddie had been through three
