A sleekly sculpted convertible roadster with a high performance
powertrain, state-of-the-art voice-activated controls and a future-focused
audio system, the Bengal concept car began prowling the autoshow circuit in
early 2001.
With its stylish good looks, extended dash-to-axle ratio, and 20-inch
wheels, the Bengal is sure to turn heads, but this concept car takes
innovation well beyond the eye.
Sporting an innovative "wheels forward" SC 3400 Hydra-Matic powertrain and
the first supercharged V6 6-speed automatic transmission on a GM vehicle,
the Bengal is built for optimum performance and road handling.
The Bengal also features Buick's Quiet-Servant, technology, a voice
activated command system that enables Bengal drivers to use more than 118
voice commands to control everything from the vehicle's convertible top to
its on-board navigational system.
The Bengal's innovative dash board also features a
reconfigurable, color head-up display that shows gauges on demand. Free of
traditional gauges and knobs, the dashboard functions as one large flat
panel speaker that integrates with the rest of the vehicle's audio system to
envelop the entire interior with audiophile-quality sound.
Technology. Performance. Style. All told, the Bengal concept car is the
kind of forward looking vehicle that combines the advances of the future
with the best of the past to create a modern classic that is sure to leave
its paw print on the history of automotive evolution.
