Corner
There are two ways to lower your score:
..A) Golf better
.
B) Cheat.
Five common sense rules for lowering your score:
1. A ball sliced or hooked into the rough shall be lifted and placed in the fairway at a point equal to the distance it carried or rolled in the rough. Such veering to the right or to the left frequently results from the friction between the face of the club and the cover of the ball, and the player should not be penalized for erratic behavior of the ball resulting from uncontrollable mechanical phenomena. 2. A ball hitting a tree shall be deemed *not* to have hit the tree. Hitting a tree is simply bad luck and there is no place for luck in a scientific game. The player should estimate the distance the ball would have traveled had it not hit the tree and play the ball from there, preferably from atop a nice tuft of grass for having been so inconvenienced. 3. There shall be *no such thing* as a lost ball. The missing ball is somewhere nearby and will eventually be found by someone. It thus becomes a *stolen* ball and the player should not compound a felony by charging himself with a penalty stroke. 4. A ball in a bunker rolling backward toward the player may be hit again on the roll without counting an extra stroke. No more than two strokes are to be counted when playing from a bunker since it is reasonable to assume that if the player had time enough to concentrate on his shot instead of hurrying it so as not to delay his playing partners and dozens of foursomes behind him he would have been out in two anyway. 5. If a putt passes over the hole without dropping it is deemed to have dropped. The law of gravity holds that any object attempting to maintain a position in the atmosphere without something to support it must drop. The law of gravity supersedes the law of golf.Kicking the ball (the foot wedge)
Most effectively used to improve your lie; this maneuver should be done when nobody is watching you. If other players are watching you swing, just continue to take practice swings until they leave. Kick the ball just enough to have a clear shot, but not so far that others will notice. Doing this from behind a tree or bush instantly saves you a stroke.
The ball drop
Sometimes you hit the ball into such a bad spot that you can't even kick yourself to a good lie. When nobody is looking just drop a new ball in a better position. You can also go the riskier route of simply picking up your ball and pretending to swing at it. Start making a big deal about how far you just crushed the ball then race to the green. Walk behind the green and drop your ball a 5-10 feet away. Now not only did you not have to pitch back into the fairway, you also just made a great shot for a birdie chance. If you don't get caught, you can save yourself an easy two strokes on the hole. If your foursome questions your shot, create some elaborate story about the ball hitting a tree and bouncing back to towards the green.
Fairway tee-up
Teeing up a ball on the fairway lets you hit the ball farther and use your driver for another shot. You can sneak a tee under your ball if your group is far enough away from you. From a distance nobody will notice the ball is higher, especially if you tee the ball slightly lower than your standard position
Final note!
The only thing that causes more cheating than golf is the income tax!
These rules sure help me. Try them out yourself. I'm sure you can
save a few strokes as well.
