EXT. CHURCH - NIGHT Rachel pulls the Tercel back into the parking lot. She parks in the parking lot attached to the fellowship hall building. She gets out of the car holding an arrangment of flowers. She walks up to the door. INT. CHURCH - HALLWAY The door swings open and Rachel walks in. She kicks the door closed and enters the church. She walks into the fellowship hall. INT. CHURCH - FELLOWSHIP HALL She walks over to a table and puts the arrangments on them. She stands back and admires them, a smile playing over her face. She exits the fellowship hall. INT. CHURCH - HALLWAY She starts down the hallway to the other end of the church. We follow behind her, keeping the camera behind her back. She whistles "Here Comes the Bride" to herself as she passes the many doors leading to Sunday School classes. We linger a moment on one such door that is ajar. We come back on Rachel as she reaches the other door leading outside. EXT. CHURCH - NIGHT The camera is now in front of Rachel as she walks down the short sidewalk to the main sanctuary building. We see the face of the Shape through the window in the door that Rachel just came through as she makes her way into the sanctuary. The Shape opens the door and steps out. INT. CHURCH - SANCTUARY - OUTER HALL Rachel takes a left and walks to the door leading into the actual sanctuary, but she notices the door leading up to the choir loft is ajar. She moves to close it when it falls open and CONNIE'S BODY falls out. Rachel backs up and holds her hand to her mouth as she lets out a scream. The door behind her makes a noise as it opens. Rachel spins around to see the Shape standing not 20 feet in front of her, holding a bloody butcher knife. RACHEL NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! She steps over Connie's dead body and opens the door to the sanctuary and is immediatly greeted by Thurman's dead body laying in her path. Rachel holds in the scream and steps over his body as well. INT. CHURCH - SANCTUARY She looks up at the raised pulpit area to see Gary's body slumped over the pastor's pulpit and Terry's slumped in the small pew that the music director sits in. The Shape makes it's way into the sanctuary and Rachel hauls it up the middle aisle toward the double doors leading outside. She makes it to the doors and finds herself with the same problem Gary did. It's either locked or blocked from the other side. The Shape stalks down the middle aisle towards her as she bangs on the door. Seeing that it's no use, she moves away from the door and runs to her right, making her way toward the outer right aisle, putting some pews in between her and the Shape. The Shape starts making it's way in between the pews to the outer right aisle. A CAR SCREACHES outside as it zooms into the sanctuary's parking lot. Thinking quickly, Rachel stops at a window and throws it open. She leaps through the window outside. EXT. CHURCH - NIGHT Brock's squad car is the car we heard and Rachel picks herself up and heads toward it. RACHEL Hey! Over here! We see the Shape through the window advancing towards the window. Tommy throws open the back door and Rachel quickly gets in. INT. SQUAD CAR - NIGHT Rachel tries to calm herself. RACHEL He killed them. They're all dead. Loomis rolls down his window in the front seat and takes aim at the Shape, who has now made it to the window. BAM!!! BAM!!! BAM!!! Three shots and the Shape falls down in the church. BROCK You stay here and I'll go make sure he's dead. LOOMIS You'll do no such thing. You'll get these kids out of here, now! BROCK But Myers... LOOMIS He's not dead, trust me. And if you go in after him, you will be. BROCK I was told to shoot to kill. I have to know if he's dead. LOOMIS Deputy, I will not endanger any more lives. You are responsible for your own, but if you leave this car and go in there, I will take these people away myself. Now, stop being foolish and let's go. Brock considers this a moment, then silently nods his head okay. He hits the accelerator and the leave the church's parking lot. Loomis looks to the back seat. LOOMIS Rachel, are you okay? RACHEL I just got back from the florist. I walked in and everyone was there. They were all dead. Oh, God. She sobs a little. Tommy holds her. TOMMY I'm so sorry, Rach. RACHEL Do you realize? It's been 10 years since he first came after Jamie and me. Ten years. Twenty years since the first time. We should have seen this coming. We shouldn't have had the wedding planned so close to this day... TOMMY It's too late for shouldn't have, Rachel. We thought we were safe. There's nothing wrong with that. RACHEL Everytime we think we're safe, he comes for us. Everytime. We live in fear of him for so many years and the first year that we think we've put him behind us, he comes back. We shouldn't have to live like this. LOOMIS No one should. RACHEL How can you do it, Dr. Loomis? How can you willingly put yourself in mortal danger every time he comes home? Don't you fear him? LOOMIS I fear him more than anyone does. That is why I do what I do. I know what he is capable of, and I know he must be stopped. Unfortunately, I don't know how to stop him, heaven knows I've tried. But I will stop him. Even if it's for a little while, I'll stop him. You two, however, are getting out of town. RACHEL Where are we going? BROCK Markland. It's about a hundred miles from here. The boss knows the sheriff over there real well and he's gonna keep an eye on you until we see this through. We're just going to make one quick stop at the station to drop off the doc and get final marching orders from the sheriff, then we're out of here, lickity split like. RACHEL Wherever we go, we won't be safe from him. TOMMY Don't talk like that, Rach. We will be safe from him. RACHEL Don't feed me that candy, Tommy, it's rotten, and you know it. You know as well as I do that if it's us he's after, then he won't quit, no matter how far away we go. TOMMY That may be so, but we have to try. RACHEL Let's just not see it as an illusion of true safety, okay? TOMMY Okay. BROCK I don't think he'll bother coming that distance to get you guys. You should be perfectly safe. This illicits a glare from the backseat. BROCK What? LOOMIS I think what they're trying to say to you, Deputy, is that they're in a better position to know what Michael is bound to do than you are. I'm inclined to agree. CUT TO: EXT. POLICE STATION - NIGHT The squad car pulls up to the station. The four passengers get out and head inside. INT. POLICE STATION - NIGHT Ben Meeker meets the group as they come in. MEEKER Good work, guys. BROCK Not good enough. People are dead. MEEKER At the church? BROCK Yes. Four individuals, friends of the couple here. Dr. Loomis shot and hit Myers and he went down. We didn't stick around to see if he stayed down. MEEKER Good call. Your first priority is to the safety of Tommy and Rachel. He turns to them. MEEKER You guys gonna make it okay? TOMMY I don't know yet. This has been a tough night. MEEKER I'm sure it has. I'm sorry about your friends. I should have been there myself. RACHEL Don't beat yourself up, Sheriff. You would be dead, too, if you were there. MEEKER Still. It's my job to protect this town, and I ain't doing such a good job of it here lately. He sighs and shakes his head. MEEKER But at least you two will be safe. I'll send some cars to the church to apprehend Myers. BROCK He might be dead. Meeker gives the kid a look that tells him he has no idea what he's talking about. MEEKER If it were that easy, a lot of people would still be alive today, kid. You're a good cop, but you're out of your league on this one. I need you to escort Tommy and Rachel to Markland. Brock doesn't argue. BROCK Yes, sir. LOOMIS I need to get to the church, Sheriff. I need to see if Michael is still there. MEEKER I'll send you with officer Macher in a minute, Doc. But first I need your expert opinion on something. Brock motions for Tommy and Rachel to follow him. BROCK Come on guys, let's get the hell out of dodge. TOMMY Good luck, Dr. Loomis. LOOMIS Thank you, Tommy. You, too. Try to have a safe trip. Tommy and Rachel leave with Brock. Loomis turns back to Meeker. LOOMIS What do you need to know? MEEKER We found this kid at the Myers house earlier. Along with a teenaged girl wrapped up like she was about to be a sacrifice. LOOMIS Was Michael there? MEEKER No. He was too busy killing Tommy and Rachel's friends at the church. Bastard. Anyway, the kid claims to have been there to await the coming of Michael Myers. He won't claim to have kidnapped the girl, who doesn't remember anything, by the way. She was knocked unconsious. But he says he's in some sort of cult that pretty much worships the evil that is Michael Myers. LOOMIS How revolting. MEEKER My thoughts exactly. What I want to know is would Michael really ally himself up with someone like that? Is it possilbe this kid knows anything about him? LOOMIS I seriously doubt it. Michael is driven by the evil that consumes him. He does not have allies. He would never join up with some sort of cult. He has his own motives and he would never share the motives of others. It is not in his nature. MEEKER That's kind of a comfort, I suppose. Could you at least talk to the guy for a minute before you continue your crusade. He says those words only half jokingly. LOOMIS I suppose. Take me to him. INT. POLICE STATION - CELLBLOCK Loomis and Meeker make their way to Jonathon's cell. MEEKER Hello, Johnny boy. I've brought a friend with me who wants to say hi. JONATHON If it's not my lawyer, I'm not interested. MEEKER This is Dr. Sam Loomis, Michael Myers personal shrink. JONATHON Ah, yes, I know of Dr. Loomis. I don't know why you try, Doctor, you can never stop Michael's evil. LOOMIS That may be true, but I will never stop trying. JONATHON How admirable. Tell me, Doctor, is Michael really as evil as he's made out to be. LOOMIS More so. Sheriff Meeker tells me that you hold him up as some sort of idol. Seeking guidance from his evil or some such nonsense. JONATHON Michael and I are connected. We are both evil. If only I could meet him, then I would meet my destiny. LOOMIS Oh, you would meet your destiny, that is certain. JONATHON Michael and I have more in common than you think. LOOMIS Michael would kill you without thinking twice about it. JONATHON I don't think so. Evil knows evil. Loomis chuckles at this. LOOMIS You poor, young, ignorant fool. I have stared into the eyes of pure evil and I've been lucky enough to live and tell about it. Standing here, looking into your eyes, I know one thing for sure. He gets as close to the cell as he can, staring the cult leader down. LOOMIS You don't know what evil really is. Jonathon backs away from Loomis' unwavering stare. LOOMIS You wouldn't know what to do if you were to face it. No, my young friend, once the likes of you comes face to face with evil, with true evil, you will surely wilt. Loomis backs up. LOOMIS Now, let me go, Sheriff, I have more important things to do. He casts a glance at the cult leader. LOOMIS Like putting a stop to this evil once and for all. Time is running out. Soon, this wretched night will be over, and we will have lost him again. CUT TO: EXT. STREETS - NIGHT Brock's cop car zooms down the street as fast as it can. INT. SQUAD CAR - NIGHT The three sit in the car, silent. Brock's jaw is set, his eyes out on the road ahead. Tommy and Rachel sit in the backseat, Tommy's hand around Rachel's shoulder. He looks up at Brock. TOMMY You really wanted to stay, didn't you? BROCK That doesn't matter. TOMMY Yes it does. You wanted to stay and take Michael down, you wanted that more than anything. I can tell. I've seen that look before in the eyes of only one man, and that's Dr. Loomis. BROCK He is a determined man. TOMMY He is definitely that. But, I do know something, and that is that despite the fact that you wanted to stay, you didn't. Our safetly means something to you and I just want to thank you for doing this for us. Brock nods, showing that he understands. BROCK No problem. TOMMY However, I still don't think it will do any good. He looks hard at Brock. TOMMY What I'm saying Deputy Brock, is that despite the fact that we're speeding away from Haddonfield, away from the battle ground, if Michael wants Rachel and me, if he really wants us, no matter what they do back there, or where we're going, you may still have your chance for a face off. BROCK You really think he's that determined? TOMMY Back in '78, when he came after Laurie Strode, he didn't stop for anything. Even after Dr. Loomis thought he stopped him and Laurie's friends were dead and Laurie was in the hospital, he came after her. Killed all the doctors and nurses before Dr. Loomis was able to blow him up. And all that got him was a permanently scarred face. It's been said many times, but Michael is patient. If he some how finds out where we're going, he'll be there. Sooner or later, he'll be there. Brock doesn't answer, just drives and considers Tommy's words. RACHEL (softly) We can't stop him. TOMMY That may be true. But I'm starting to get sick of spending my life running from him. BROCK Maybe this'll be the last time you'll ever have to run from him. TOMMY The only way that'll happen is if either we die, or he does. BROCK Then we'll just have to make sure that it's us standing when it's over with. CUT TO: EXT. CHURCH - NIGHT About five squad cars screech into the parking lot, followed by an ambulance. Macher's car pulls up as close to the side of the church as it can and out of the car comes Dr. Loomis, gun at the ready. He slowly makes his way to the open window, followed by 6 armed policeman. Loomis walks up to the window and slowly peeks in. LOOMIS' POV The bodies of Gary, Terry and Thurman in the position that we last saw them in, but no sign of the Shape anywhere. LOOMIS Damn you, Michael. He turns around to the other officers. LOOMIS There are dead bodies in there. Sweep around the building for Michael if you want, but I would bet anything he's not here. MACHER And where would he be? LOOMIS Only God knows for sure, but he'll continue to hunt for Tommy and Rachel, and the last time he saw them, they were in a police car. MACHER The station. LOOMIS Possibly. MACHER I'll call in, make sure everything's all right. But we have to check the area. We can't take the chance that he's still not out here, or it may result in more lives. LOOMIS Agreed. He talks louder so the rest can hear him. MACHER Everyone, search the building, use EXTREME caution, we know what this guy can do. If he's not here, Bartlett and Comby, you sweep the surrounding neighborhood and we'll remove the bodies. Afterwards, it's back to the station for further marching orders. (softly, to himself) If he doesn't show up there first. CUT TO: EXT. POLICE STATION - NIGHT Establishing shot. INT. POLICE STATION - SHERIFF MEEKER'S OFFICE Sheriff Meeker talks into the mike. MEEKER All right, Macher. Thanks for the heads up, we'll keep our eyes open. Good luck. MACHER (VO) Same to ya, boss. Over and out. Meeker puts the mike down and sighs. He shakes his head as if to clear a thought out that is trapped in there. MEEKER (to himself) You knew it wouldn't be that easy, Ben. He sits back in his chair and looks at the picture of his daughter, Kelly. He picks it up and stares at it. MEEKER Son of a bitch must pay. He sets the picture back down and slowly gets up. He grabs his coat and walks out of his office. INT. POLICE STATION Meeker walks by the desk seargent, pulling his coat on. MEEKER Keep an eye on things for a moment, Clete, Im gonna take a little ride for a little bit. I'll be back before long. If anything happens, or any news comes in, let me know ASAP. CLETUS Yes, sir. MEEKER Anyone else here? CLETUS Staight should be here in a couple of minutes to clock in. MEEKER Good. See ya. EXT. POLICE STATION Meeker exits the building, his hands in his coat pockets to ward off the cold. He looks across the street at a convenience store decked out in halloween decorations. He shakes his head in disgust. MEEKER God, I hate this day. He walks up to his car and puts his key in the door lock. He looks up as he hears another car pulling up beside him. A Blue Chevy Lumina. THE SHAPE steps out of the car and starts to walk around it to get to Meeker. Meeker pulls his gun and aims at the Shape. MEEKER Freeze! Pull off that mask now, mister, or you'll never be able to properly digest food or drink again. The Shape continues to walk toward him. MEEKER Last warning! You had better hope this is no Halloween joke. The Shape is now in front of him. He stops and pulls a big, bloody butcher knife from his coveralls. That's all the incentive Meeker needs. Before he can pull the trigger, the Shape swipes with his hand, knocking Meeker's aim off and blowing one of the Chevy's tires. Before Meeker can react, the Shape plunges the knife into his stomach. Meeker's eyes fill with disbelief. He continues to stare into the Shape's face as the Shape pulls his knife out. Meeker slowly sinks to the ground, always looking up at the Shape, who, in turn, looks down at Meeker. The Shape walks off towards the Police Station and doesn't look back as Meeker utters one more phrase. MEEKER Sorry... Tom..my... Rach... sorry Doc..., Kell...y.... His eyes close. From inside his car, the radio squawks. INT. POLICE STATION Sgt. Cletus is on the radio trying to get Meeker. CLETUS Sheriff, I heard shots fired! What is the situation, over! No answer. CLETUS Sheriff Meeker! Are you there! He slams down the mike, draws his gun and starts towards the doors leading outside. He stops as soon as he sees the Shape standing in the doorway. The Shape steps in and Cletus FIRES! BLAM BLAM BLAM!!! The Shape's body jerks as each bullet hits him in the shoulder, thigh and arm. He keeps coming. Cletus fires three more times, the Shape finally goes down. Cletus walks up to the Shape, not sure if he's dead or not. The Shape continues to lay there. The Shape suddenly SITS UP and Cletus jumps back. He raises his gun to fire again. CLICK! The Shape stands up to his full height right in front of Cletus, who tries to use the useless pistol as a club. The Shape blocks it and grabs the hapless Sgt., and throws him through the glass door. EXT. POLICE STATION - NIGHT Cletus lays in shards of glass, bloodied up. He weakly tries to prop himself up with his hands, but it doesn't happen. The Shape walks through the broken door, grabs a big piece of broken glass still attached and yanks it free. He stands over Cletus and SLAMS the piece of glass through the back of his neck to where it protrudes through the other side. Cletus spasms and dies as the Shape turns around and walks back into the station. INT. POLICE STATION - CELL BLOCK Jonathon stands at the bars of his cell, wondering what the heck is going on out there. Shots have been fired, crashes have been heard. JONATHON Hey! What's going on out there!? Everything suddenly gets quiet. JONATHON What the... (louder) Anybody!! What's going on!!?? Silence. Jonathon waits a moment, looking in the direction of the main room. The handle on the door to that room starts to turn. The door opens and MICHAEL MYERS stands, shadows covering him, his pale mask can barely be seen. Jonathon is shocked almost speechless. JONATHON (to himself) It can't be... is it? The Shape steps into the light and there is no doubt. JONATHON Michael Myers. A smile splits his face. JONATHON You've come home. I've waited for this day for two years. The Shape tilts it's head. JONATHON Come and free me, Michael. Alone, you've never been able to do what you've set out to accomplish, but together, we can show this town a reign of evil such as they could never imagine in their worst nightmares. The Shape makes its way towards Jonathon's cell. JONATHON Just find the keys and let me out of here and we'll strike this town. We'll finish what you've set out to accomplish. He puts his hand through the bars as the Shape approaches. The Shape considers the hand as Jonathon continues to spout his evil plan. JONATHON Regular people don't understand evil, Michael. They never have, never will. We'll make them understand one thing, Michael, and that is that they will never beat it. The Shape grabs Jonathon's hand and he smiles. JONATHON You made a wise choice, Michael. Only I can help your desires come to fruition. The Shape YANKS Jonathon's arm, pulling his whole body up against the bars. JONATHON Michael!? His eyes widen as he sees the Shape reach into his coveralls and pull out his knife. JONATHON This is a mistake, Michael, don't do this. The knife PLOWS into Jonathon's chest and pulls across it, opening his chest wide. Jonathon looks down in disbelief at the gaping hole in his chest, then falls to the ground. JONATHON Michael.... Jonathon dies. The Shape doesn't give him another look as he starts walking towards the door. CUT TO: EXT. STREETS - NIGHT Brock's car is all alone on the highway out of Haddonfield. INT. SQUAD CAR - NIGHT Rachel dozes on Tommy's shoulder as everyone is quiet in the car. Nothing going on so far. EXT. SQUAD CAR - NIGHT Close up on the wheel as the front one BLOWS. INT. SQUAD CAR - NIGHT Brock jerks the steering wheel, keeping the car under control as he pulls to the side of the road. In the backseat, Tommy sits straight up and Rachel quickly wakes from her doze. RACHEL What's happening? BROCK Bloody blowout! He stops the engine and gets out. EXT. SQUAD CAR - NIGHT Brock looks at the damage. The tire is completely blown. BROCK Well, that rules out Fix-A-Flat. Tommy opens the back door and exits, along with Rachel. TOMMY Now, this sucks. BROCK Tell me about it. RACHEL I hope you have a spare. BROCK Us cops are always prepared. Can't imagine why it'd blow out like that. It'll take a bit to change it. I'd better call and tell what happened so no one worries. He tosses Tommy the keys. BROCK Can you open the trunk and get the spare and jack, please? TOMMY Sure. He walks to the back and opens the trunk as Brock gets in the front seat. INT. SQUAD CAR - NIGHT Brock picks up the mike as we.... CUT TO: EXT. POLICE STATION - NIGHT We find ourselves at Meeker's car, Meeker himself propped up against it. The Shape's legs step into frame and push Meeker over with a foot. The Shape leans down and picks up the keys that Meeker dropped and opens Meeker's squad car. INT. SQUAD CAR - NIGHT The Shape situates himself in the driver's seat and starts the engine. The Radio SQUAWKS to life and Brock's voice comes through. BROCK (VO) Anybody listening at HQ, this is Brock. We've had a blow out about twenty miles out of Haddonfield on Highway 80. Tommy and Rachel are fine, as am I, but we'll be delayed getting to Markland by about 15 or 20 minutes. Over and out. The Shape looks down at the radio and then back up. EXT. POLICE STATION - NIGHT The Shape's car pulls out of the parking lot and heads Markland way.
