CUT TO: EXT. MYERS HOUSE - EVENING The house sits back in the yard. The sidewalk leading up to the front porch is overgrown with grass and weeds. The house itself is in horrible repair. Apparently, after Niel Davids was killed here, no one took much more interest in fixing it up and buying it. Across the street from the run down place sits an unmarked police car. It it, an officer in plainsclothes. INT. CAR MATTHEW PHILLIPS sits boredly, keeping a keen eye on the house. MATT Yeah, cuz he's dumb enough to come to the first place where everyone is bound to look for him. As soon as the words come out of his mouth, we see a small car pull behind the place. MATT Well, I'll be... He picks up the mike. MATT This is Phillips. I have activity at the old Myer's place. Request back up before I go in. DISPATCHER A unit is on it's way, Matt. Be carefull. MATT Will do. He puts the Mike down and awaits backup. INT MYERS HOUSE - JUDITH'S ROOM A group of five people stand around in a semi circle, waiting in silence. The one in the middle, JONATHON CHRISTIANSEN is the leader of the group. A noise from behind and they all look back to see another of their group, DEAN HOPKINS, stride in, an unconsious girl slung over his shoulder. He walks up to a long table situated in front of the group and lays her down on it. The girl is about 16, and trussed up pretty good. Her hands are bound to her side, her feet tied together. A hankerchief gags her mouth. There is a recent bruise on her brow. Jonathon steps up to examine the girl. JONATHON This is her? DEAN Leah Russo. Daughter of Bruce Russo, the preacher from First Baptish Church. This girl is part of charitible orginizations, leads a Bible study every Tuesday at her house, and all sorts of other goody two shoes sort of thing. JONATHON Perfect. An exquisite sacrifice. An innocent whose is pure enough to give over to the evil that is Michael Myers. You had no trouble procuring her? DEAN She was the only one home at the time. I checked all the rooms. After she let me in, she didn't really want to come with me. I'm afraid I had to strike her her to make her more cooperative. JONATHON A bruise we can live with. You weren't followed. DEAN No. JONAHON Good. We will begin the ceremony in one hour. I'll begin to prepare the victim. He walks over to the knocked out girl and brushes a strand of brown her from her forehead. He begins making gestures over her, muttering to himself The others mumble low as well. From somewhere below a door SHUTS. The cultists look up quickly. JONATHON I thought you said you were not followed? DEAN I wasn't. GUY 1 People are always coming in here on Halloween. It's like a huge rush to some folks. DEAN Or.... perhaps HE has come home. Jonathon smiles at the possibility. JONATHON Then perhaps we should leave the girl for him to take all his own. DEAN Should we wait and present it to him? JONATHON No, that wouldn't be wise. I suggest the rest of you exit the house and I'll wait for him. DEAN Suppose it isn't him. JONATHON Then more souls for the sacrafice. Now go. May evil shine on you, brothers. They all hold out their hands, palms up. ALL TOGETHER May evil shine on you! The group swiftly disperses. EXT. MYERS HOUSE - EVENING The back door opens and the group of cultists exit, scattering in all directions. We PAN around the house to the front yard. Two cop cars sit there and Matt's undercover car is empty. They have entered the house. INT. MYERS HOUSE - LIVING ROOM Matt leads two officers to the stairwell and head up it. INT. MYERS HOUSE - UPSTAIRS HALLWAY Matt and the troops start checking in rooms. INT. MYERS HOUSE - JUDITH'S ROOM Leah Russo, the girl laying on the "altar", starts to come around. Her eyes slowly adjust to her surroundings and she quickly realizes that she's bound. She starts struggling and mmpphhhing in her gag. Footsteps sound from outside the door. She gets quiet, panicked. She doens't know whether to draw attention or hope no one comes in. The door slowly CREAKS open and for a second we con't see anyone on the other side. Then a POLICE OFFICER quickly swings around, holding his gun to bear. He pauses. OFFICER 1 My God. He enters the room and holds a finger to his lips to say "Shhhh" to the girl. Leah's eyes plead with the officer to undo her. The officer slowly approaches, sweeping the room with his eyes. He pauses again, looking at a closet. The door is slightly ajar. He slowly makes his way toward it and swings it open. BAM! Jonathon, who was hiding in the closet, rams into the officer, knocking him down. Matt and the other officer are quickly in the room, having heard the noise. They both bring their guns to bear on Jonathon. MATT Freeze! Jonathon does exactly that. The cops look from him to the bound girl. MATT Book him. As officer 1 gets up, officer 2 walks over to Jonathon, pulling his cuffs out. Officer 1 is now up with his gun drawn. Matt walks over to the girl and undoes the ropes bounding her. He then removes her gag. In the BG, we hear the officers reading Jonathon his rights. MATT Are you okay? LEAH I don't know? What's going on? I don't even know where I am. Her composure starts to break and she embraces Matt. MATT Shhh. It'll be okay. Let's just get you down to the station. CUT TO: INT. CHURCH - EVENING Rachel, Connie and Terry are busy with folks setting up the church, decorating it and so forth. Rachel walks up to the pulpit and stares up at it, lost in thought. A hand touches her shoulder and she jumps. RACHEL Eeek! We see that it is Connie who has tapped her. CONNIE Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you. RACHEL S'alright. What's up? CONNIE Most everyone needs to leave, prior Halloween engagements and all, but Terry and I will stay and do whatever you need us to do. RACHEL Cool. CONNIE And one of us needs to go to Kelly's Floral and pick up a couple of arrangements. RACHEL I'll do it. If I can use your car, that is. Connie reaches into her pocket and grabs the keys. CONNIE Here's the keys. RACHEL Thanks. Be back in a jiff. EXT. CHURCH - GETTING DARK Rachel exits the church and walks to a small green Toyota Tercel and gets in. The engine cranks and she leaves the parking lot. EXT. STREETS - GETTING DARK The Tercel rids down the street and passes Brock's squad car going the other way. INT. SQUAD CAR Thurman quickly looks back at the passing car. THURMAN That looked like Connie's car. TOMMY Might have been. She's either leaving or running an errand. Church is just a couple of blocks away, deputy. BROCK I see it. EXT. CHURCH PARKING LOT The squad car finds a spot and parks. INT. CHURCH The side door opens and Tommy and company enter to see Connie and Terry putting up a drape over a stain glass window. Connie looks at the group, confused. CONNIE Tommy? Is something wrong? TOMMY Where's Rachel? CONNIE She took my car and went to the florist. What's going on here? TOMMY Long story. He turns to Loomis. TOMMY Should we wait here for her? LOOMIS We should get to her as soon as possible. BROCK I'll take the doctor and you and we'll go to the florist. Which florist is that, ma'am? CONNIE Kelly's Floral. BROCK Okay. Meanwhile, you two stay here and wait for her. If we miss her there, we'll come back. Sound like a plan. TOMMY Good enough. Let's go. Tommy, Brock and Loomis exit the church leaving Gary, Thurman and the girls. They look over at the two guys with a "what the hell is going on here?" look. TERRY What the hell is going on here?! Thurman and Gary exchange glances. THURMAN Well, it's like this... EXT. CHURCH - NIGHT The squad car cranks up and leaves the church parking lot. In the back corner of the parking lot, we see a Chevy Lumina. The driver's side door opens and we see two legs step out. CUT TO: EXT. POLICE STATION - NIGHT Establishing shot. INT. POLICE STATION - INTERRIGATION ROOM Sheriff Meeker sits at a table and Matt stands behind him. On the other side of the table sits Jonathon. MEEKER I don't care if you think Michael Myers is the second coming, I don't care if you like to dress up in robes, chanting to evil spirits every Halloween. I care about that girl. So I'll ask you again, did you or did you not bring her to the Myers house? JONATHON For the last time, Sheriff, I'm waiting for my lawyer. MEEKER You're going to be waiting a long time, buddy. Your lawyer is out of town at a Halloween party. JONATHON Then I guess you'll just have to wait to hear what I have to say. MEEKER Maybe so. But if you had anything to do with assaulting and kidnapping that girl, no leniacy will be given. You picked the WRONG night to play games with me, pal. As soon as I have your buddies, I'm sure one of them will talk, and I'll be very interested in what he has to say. And if I don't like it, you'll find yourself with a one way all expense paid trip up to the state pen and I'll make sure you have a 300 pound bodybuilding roomate named "Mary". Jonathon refuses to budge. MEEKER Fine. (louder) Tom! The first officer on the scene, TOM KINGSLEY, comes into the room. TOM Yes, sir? MEEKER Throw this scum eating pig fart into a holding cell, will ya. And make sure it's an appropriately dank one. TOM My pleasure, boss. He walks to the other side of the table and grabs Jonathon. He guides him up and leads him to the door. TOM Come on, pig fart. They exit. MATT Want me to go back out there? Maybe his cronies'll show up. MEEKER No, I want you to run the girl home. She's had enough fun for one night. See if you can't find her parents. Her father's probably heading up the Halloween festival at his church. MATT Yes, sir. Any word on Tommy Doyle or Rachel Corruthers? MEEKER Brock found Tommy and they're on their way to pick up Rachel now. They'll come by here and then be on their way to Markland. Then, it'll be up to us to find and stop that monstrous son of a bitch. CUT TO: INT. CHURCH - NIGHT The four friends sit on a pew. The girls look at Thurman and Gary horrified. TERRY So, they think Michael Myers is back and is killing again? GARY Yes. CONNIE And they think that he's gonna come after Rachel and Tommy again? THURMAN They don't see why not? CONNIE Well, did they EVER think that he might get wind of what's happening and decide to come HERE? THURMAN Hey, don't worry about it. We're here. CONNIE I don't guess you have some guns on you. Maybe a couple of bombs, bazookas, you know, something that might actually help if that monster decides to come on over. GARY I wouldn't worry. It's Tommy and Rachel who should be worried and they have police protection. TERRY I wouldn't get any comfort out of that. The cops have been boneheads when it comes to this guy. CONNIE Whatever. It's too late to worry about it now. They'll be back before long and we'll be safe. TERRY We can only hope. Connie gets up and and heads for the front of the church. On the each side of the wall behind the pulpit are doors. She heads to the one on the left. TERRY Where are you going? CONNIE Water fountain. I'm thirsty. She steps through the door. INT. BACK OF CHURCH - NIGHT She steps into a small hall that leads to a wall and turns right into a longer hallway. To her immediate right are two doors. One that leads to the baptistry and the other is a storage closet. She walks up and turns right. On either side of the hall are doors that lead outside. Both have square windows looking out on the top half. Down this small hallway are doors leading to the pastor's office, secretary's office and so forth. On the other side of the hallway is a water fountain. She heads for that. As she leans down to take a drink from the faucet, THE SHAPE can be seen through the window of the door looking in at her. He tilts his head. Camera CU of Connie's face as she drinks. She stands back up straight and spins around, suddenly uncomfortable. There's no one looking in the window. She rushes to the door and locks it. She runs to the other end and locks that door as well. Trying to shake the bad feeling she has, she heads back to the sanctuary. As she passes the storage closet door, she notices that it's not pushed shut as well as it should be. She gives it a small push and it clicks. We watch Connie walk back into the sanctuary and close the door behind her. CU of storage closet door handle. It begins to turn. INT. CHURCH - SANTCUARY Connie walks back and joins the others CONNIE Has anyone else noticed that there's nothing creepier than a church at night? TERRY Ironic, isn't it? A place where God is worshipped being so uncomfortable after dark. GARY Is it so suprising, though? THURMAN What do you mean? GARY Think about it. If you really believe in God and the story behind him, you also have to take into account the devil himself, Satan. God has his angels, Satan has his legion of demons. If you believe the teachings and what not, you're taught that the church is actually the believers that go to it. The believers all come to the church and BOOM, there's God. Everything's safe and honkey dorey. However, when the believers disperse for the day, then why should God hang around. If you believe what they believe, then he goes with them, the church is merely a building, so believers can come together and worship. When they're gone, think of the church as an empty shell. If you were a demon, would it not be like the ultimate rush to be able to hang where God, the only thing that really scares the crap out of you, is worshipped. You can just go in and chill. Talk to the other demons about the game that they skipped church to see, that kind of thing. Say those demons are there and when someone comes to the church just to do something, you know, that doesn't pertain to the worship of God, then that person gets chills, you know. He finds the church creepy, and he can't put a finger on it. What he doesn't know, doesn't even want to think about is that in the place that he should feel safest, he is sharing the same breathing air as something.... evil. TERRY Whether you believe that or not, that's not exactly what I want to be hearing right now. That's the creepiest thing I've ever heard. CONNIE Demons hanging out at a churh. What a load of crap. GARY Hey, believe what you want to, but the fact is it seems like everyone is creeped out by churches. Satan worshippers take up in old, abandoned, run down churches. Why would they do that? To make a statement? No way. They sit in silence for a few moments more. Terry touches Connie's shoulder. TERRY Come with me to the bathroom, please? CONNIE Okay. You two boys behave yourselves. No more scary stories, or you won't be able to get to sleep tonight. GARY Ya'll want us to escort? CONNIE I think us women folk can manage. They walk off, leaving Gary and Thurman in the sanctuary. THURMAN So, what do you think about it? GARY They're cute, but not my type. THURMAN Not them. This. GARY This what? THURMAN This whole situation. I mean, that whole demon thing. Some say Michael Myers is a demon. GARY Maybe he is. THURMAN I've got to admit man, I'm scared. GARY Quick, say "Brothers never last long in situations like this!" THURMAN What the hell for?! GARY Cuz everytime a black dude says that, he survives. THURMAN Really? GARY Scream 2 and Deep Blue Sea. Trust me! THURMAN Brothers never last long in situations like this! GARY There you go. THURMAN What about you? GARY Oh, I'm screwed. THURMAN How do you figure that? GARY The last time this maniac struck, he killed my girlfriend. And not only am I a friend of the hero, I'm also one of his co-workers. In horror movies, I am the FIRST person slashed. THURMAN We're gonna get something straight, and we're gonna get it straight now. GARY What's that? THURMAN This ain't no fuckin' movie! Gary smiles. GARY Outstanding point! THURMAN Besides, black guys in horror movies always have attitudes, listen to rap music or funk all the time and use a lot of foul langauge. GARY You said "fuck". THURMAN Shut the fuck up. You know what I mean. They sit in silence for a few minutes. GARY You know of course, this eliminates your "Brothers never last long in situations like this" statement, don't you? THURMAN Hey, we'll get through this and we'll get through it our way. No horror movie's gonna dictate who lives and dies today or tomorrow. We're gonna kick some ass. GARY Right on! INT. CHURCH - HALLWAY In another building of the church, Connie and Terry head for the bathroom. They're in one long hallway, doors here and there leading to classrooms. At the end of the hall sits a nursery, and the door oposite it leads to the FELLOWSHIP HALL, where the wedding reception will be held. They enter the ladie's restroom. INT. CHURCH - LADIE'S RESTROOM Terry goes to the stall and Connie goes to the mirror. CONNIE Is it number 1 or 2? TERRY Number 2, but it'll be a fast one. CONNIE Did that jerk really creep you out? TERRY Yeah, but be nice, Connie, I think he may believe it. CONNIE I do feel sorry for the lug, though. He lost a lot that night 2 years ago. TERRY Yeah, he did, but not as much as poor Rach. Connie stands quietly for a few minutes as she looks back on what Rachel lost: A friend, a teacher, her parents, her sister. CONNIE The only thing she has left is Tommy. TERRY And us. CONNIE Poor thing. TERRY Yeah, tell me about it. A SOUND from in the hall. TERRY You hear that?! CONNIE Yeah. You hold tight, it's probably one of the boys. I'll go give 'em a verbal lashing. Connie walks out into the hallway. INT. CHURCH - HALLWAY She looks down the hallway and sees the door swinging lightly. But no one's there. She looks up and down the hall, seeing nothing. CONNIE Guess we didn't shut it good. Connie walks down the hall up to the door leading outside. She has to reach outside to grab the door handle and when she does... A HAND GRABS HER AND YANKS HER OUT. Giving a startled yelp, Connie stumbles outside the church in between the main building and the fellowship hall building. EXT. CHURCH - NIGHT Connie looks up and sees the Shape staring at her. Her mouth opens to scream, but the Shape grabs her, holding his hand over her mouth, muffling her screams. He takes his knife and rams it into her stomach. Her eyes widen in pain. Her hands that reached up to try to pry his off comes down to her belly where the knife is. The Shape lets her go and yanks out his knife. Connie stumbles back a bit, her voice not quite coming to her. The Shape stalks toward her and knives her again, this time in the chest. Connie falls down. The Shape kneels down besider her, looks into her pleading eyes and tilts his head. He then runs his knife across her throat, draining her life away. The Shape stands up and stares down at his dead victim a moment. Then he turns around and walks towards the fellowship hall buidling. INT. GIRL'S RESTROOM Terry sits in the stall and hears the door open. TERRY Was it them? No answer. TERRY Connie? The door closes. TERRY Gary... Thurman? Footsteps echo in the bathroom, but no answer. Terry starts to whimper in fear. TERRY (whispering) This isn't funny.... She yanks her feet off the ground so no one can see them under the stall. A silly gesture, as she's already given away her position. She bites her quivering bottom lip as two BOOTED FEET come to a stop right before her stall. A YANK, but the stall is locked, so it doesn't budge. Terry starts to cry. TERRY Please... please... just go away... please.... Another THUMP and another and another until.. WHAP! The lock gives way and the door comes bursting open revealing THE SHAPE standing at the entrance. Terry looks at him in fear; notices the bloody knife he's holding. TERRY Oh, Connie.... The Shape raises the knife and strikes. CUT TO: EXT. KELLY'S FLORAL - NIGHT Brock's squad car is in the parking lot. A frustrated Tommy Doyle comes out of the Floral Shop and gets in the car. INT. SQUAD CAR - NIGHT Tommy settles down in the back and looks up towards the front seat with Brock and Loomis. TOMMY Do you believe this? We *just* missed her! LOOMIS Oh, bloody hell. BROCK Back to the church, then. He hits the accelerator and speeds off. CUT TO: INT. CHURCH -SANTCUARY Thurman and Gary sit in the pew, waiting for the girls to return. THURMAN What's taking them? GARY I dunno, sacred girl bathroom stuff maybe. THURMAN Do you even know what you're talking about half the time? GARY Of course I do. Going to the bathroom is like a sacred ceremony for girls. Notice how they always go in pairs or in groups. What's up with that? It only takes one to get the business done, so the other one must go with her to take part in said sacred ceremony. THURMAN You're full of more crap than usual tonight, you know that? GARY Call it what you wish. THURMAN What goes on in there, then, smarty? GARY No one really knows. Most guys who've witnessed it never say what they've seen. God knows why, but it must be some serious stuff. Thurman rolls his eyes. THURMAN I'm gonna go check on 'em. Thurman gets up and heads for one of the doors leading out of the santcuary. He opens the door and comes face to face with THE SHAPE! The Shape grabs him behind his neck and knifes him in the chest. And again. He lets go and Thurman drops to the ground, dead. Gary can only stand there in utter shock. After a moment, as the Shape starts coming toward him, he runs towards the back of the sanctuary, where two big double doors lead to the outside. He turns the handle and pushes. It won't budge. It's either locked from the outside or blocked. He looks over his shoulder and sees the Shape stalking down the center aisle of the church. He darts off down a side ailse toward the door that Thurman tried to get out of. He tries to leap over Thurman's body, trips. He quickly gets up without looking back and goes into the outer hallway. INT. CHURCH - HALLWAY Gary makes it to the door and tries to open it. It won't budge. He looks down at the lock and sees that it's unlocked. He looks out the window and sees a ADD SOMETHING HERE blocking the door. He spins around, hoping to make it to the other door, but we see The Shape walking down the short hallway. There's no way to go. So Gary turns around and continues to try and open the door. EXT. CHURCH - NIGHT We look in from outside through the window of the door that Gary is trying to open and see the Shape come up behind Gary, his mask in clear view over Gary's shoulder. Gary puts his shoulder into it and then opens his mouth in a scream. He falls down, out of view and all we see through the window is the Shape, standing with the bloody knife that he stabbed Gary in the back with. END OF PART 3
