You have to make the person believe that they can't live without it and that they must have
it right now !
When you stock up you have a while before you must pay for it. You must figure out how
many you HAVE to sell to pay for the full amount you took. It's less daunting !
Let's look at the new fragrance Love Life... If I took 21 bottles at $15 each (at 40%) then
I'd have to sell 13 of the 21 bottles to cover the cost.
Some selling ideas:
Take $2 or $3 off new fragrance during it's first campaign. This puts urgency to buy the
fragance now instead of later.
Have a prize drawing for anyone that purchases the item. One entry for each bottle.
Give away product on hand or something that coincides with the fragrance. (with Love
Life - perhaps a romance kit with body lotion, candle and chocolate)
WEAR the new fragrance and remember the comments you get about it ! Type up the
comments into a flyer. Also look for media attention of a new fragrance. alot of times it
will be in magazines.. like when I posted the comments I found in Glamour magazine.
When Women of Earth came out, the gas station girl laid across the counter and said
"You are wearing Tommy Girl !" and I said "No, Avon's Women of Earth - smells the
same at half the price !!"
If you can - buy the fragrance vials. They last long enough to get the person into the habit
of the fragrance. Yes, it may take longer for them to ultimately purchase the fragrance, but
it makes them want it more because they have had it for days !
Think about what it would take to make YOU buy something.... I love Gift with Purchase.
I tell ya, sometimes I think I'd buy a turd if I knew it came with an attractive FREE
carrying case !!
You can also do the old Avon standby: Give people the bottles and tell them you'll be in
touch in 2 weeks. they pay for it or return it.
