Cool colors are colors with a blue base to them; warm colors have an
orange base. The part that gets confusing is...you would think OK, Blue
must be cool and Red must be warm - truth is there are warm blues and
cool reds! Does that make sense? Example: Yellow - a bright sunshine
yellow would have an orange base and would therefore be warm; a buttery,
creamy yellow would have a blue base and would be cool. The best way to
decide is to get a piece of fabric that is a true red or orange and one that is
a true blue and use that as a guide. Any color you are unsure of, simply lay
it alongside your "matching" swatches, if it goes together you have the
correct family, if it clashes, it would belong to the other. I hope this all made
sense!
