THE WORLD OF COMPETITION

We say the mother of the cards for mainboards because of the other pieces and cards of PC contact on mainboards [1]. In the other words the nervous system of PC is on the motherboards [1]. The past of mainboards is not very long. Today there are ISA, PCI and AGP data bus on our PC [1]. ISA has been used for seventeen years which is an old data bus [1]. PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) is developed by Intel in 1993 [1]. Different companies after Intel are participation in the market of mainboards. These are ECS, FOXCONN, GIGABYTE, EPOX, MSI so which have not been very old in the market and we can add a lot of marks different from these. Intel has got a big part of the market but ECS mainboard is commendable because of it has got very good hardware characteristic, its better operating system characteristic, and low cost.
It has very good hardware characteristic. It has got extra sockets [ 5 PCI, 1 AGP 8X, 2X SATA+IDE ( RAID 0,1 and 0+1), 2X UDMA ATA 100/66 Bus Master IDE ] and ports [(4 USB 2.0 ports), 4 slots]. ECS mainboard can run to socet 478 533 & 800 MHz Intel Pentium 4 /Celeron/ Prescott Processors. The mainboard has double LAN inputs and outputs also there are analogous and digital voice outputs [2]. There is an interesting characteristic, it has got a spare BIOS [2]. The other mainboards have not got it, if your BIOS will break you can contact the spare BIOS of course that is a big advantage. It has got Hyper-Threading Tecnology and it is devised for ATX Structure [2]. That is an important characteristic. Also we do not forget that, it has double channel memory technology [2].
It has very good software characteristic. It can increase the performance of operating systems and prgrammes. 865 chipset and under the same hardware conditions; marks of mainboards ECS, EPOX, INTEL, FOXCONN, GIGABYTE, MSI are tested for higest program performance. Sisoft Sandra, Multimedia Benchmark, Business Winstone 2004, ScienceMark, PCMark 2004 and Winrar 3.2 are ran the higest performance by ECS [2].
It is cheaper. ECS has got preeminent characteristics also it is cheaper than the other marks. For last year, Intel D865PERL mainboard is 83.5$, the same of ECS it has paralel and SERIES ATA disks ; Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 mainboard is 96$ but it has not got a different characteristic; MSI 865PE mainboard is 99$, it has a different characteristic which is devoloped to run with new display cards [3]; EPOX 4PDA3i 125$+ KDV and FOXCONN 865A01-PE-6LS mainboard is 76$+KDV. So they have not a different characteristic from ECS [2]. ECS 865G-M is 90$ [3].
Intel has got the biggest part of mainboards’ market because of it is an old mark so it is well-known and it is a reliable mark also the majority pieces of computer are produced by Intel. But ECS is a new and an unknown mark, it has got alot of better characteristic so it will be an important rival in the world of competition is between mainboards’ marks.
