Theme Paper Assignment:

For your second writing assignment this semester, you will explore one of the themes we’ve discussed in class over the course of the past two weeks, using three separate works to discuss the theme.  One of the pieces you use must be a selection we’ve read and discussed in class this semester.  One piece must be a form of media (movie, television show, song, etc.).  The third “piece” comes from you, as you’ll discuss how you’ve seen this theme played out in your own life, the lives of others, or in society as a whole.

 

 Theme Paper Guidelines:

1.  3-5 pages

2.  Thesis Statement must identify the theme and the works you will use to discuss

     the theme.

3.  Use 2-3 quotations or paraphrases from each work – documented in

     parenthetical citations using MLA format.

4.  Works Cited page must document the two outside sources correctly in MLA

      format.
