My Opinions
Religion; Friend or Foe?
From my experience, life cannot exist without religion.  Beings of any form tend to grab onto religion and hold tight because it gives them an unshakable law that no one can take away.  It gives them something to believe in and something to lord over other people.  Every human being has a need, inside of them, to believe in an essense or a feeling.  This keeps them stable in an unstable world.
I have many opinions about religion.  One being that it is the glue that holds this nation together.  Because of past prejudices according to religion, we now feel charitable when we accept, without a question, someone of another faith.  Some do not notice this but subconciously they are patting themselves on the back.  And those who don't accept people because of their religion, the whole of the people, combines forces to hate fiercefully.
This gives people common ground, which is a binding force for every group.  I also dislike religion because this gives certain people hierarchy over other people.  The Pope has power over the Catholics, and so on.  Even though people nowadays will realize when a horrendously radical decision is made that will alter the course of human life forever, in the past there have been several misinterpretations of the bible that have made life altering decisions for the people of that time and beyond.
The make and remake of every faith has been going on since the beginning of time.  I personally find it easier to believe in what I feel and see.  I don't like other people telling me what to think and I don't like people telling me who to believe in.  I know the difference between good and bad and I now have the common sense to avoid the latter, no matter what I believe in.  I don't need an enforcer (priest) and I don't need a bible.  I thank my parents for having raised me in a house full of faith without forcing me to know it's subject.  "A guiding hand works much better than a guilded path."
