Well, this is where I put all of my favorite miscellaneous recipes!    If it doesn't quite fit into any of the other categories ~~ it will be here!


Herb Bread  ~  Sour Cream & Chive Biscuits



 

RECIPES
Herb Bread
1 French bread loaf (sliced lengthwise)
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/8 tsp. each of garlic powder, sage, basil, oregano, celery salt
1/4 cup parsley flakes

Cream butter, garlic, sage, parsley, basic, oregano and celery salt in medium-sized bowl.  Spread on both halves of loaf.  Put together in original shape.  Wrap in foil.  Heat in 350oF over for 20-25 minuttes.  If time is short, slices can be arranged on baking sheet and roiled.  Watch carefully, as they will burn easily.

Note:  Loaf could also be sliced into thick slices....spread butter mixture on each slice and put together in original shape.



Sour Cream & Chive Biscuits (16 biscuits)

2 cups self-rising flour
1 tblsp. confectioners sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp each baking soda and salt
1/3 cup butter-flavored shortening
1/2 cup chopped fresh chives
1/3 cup eachh buttermilk and sour cream
2 tblsp. butter, melted

Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Sift together first 5 ingredients. Cut in shortening until coarse crumbs form; add chives. Mix buttermilk, sour cream and 1/3 cup water; stir into dry mixture; knead 14 times. Roll to 1/2" thickness; cut 2" biscuits. Place on greased pan. Bake 10 minutes. Brush with the melted butter.
