For the next two recipes I buy pre-mixed Spice Mix from our local elementary school craft fair! You can most likely get it from a specialty store in your area. I usually make this up in the morning and let it simmer in my crock pot all day.....mmmmm good!1/3 cup spice mix
2 litres apple juice
2 litres water
1/2 cup cranberry juice (for color) **I always add a bit more - I like the flavor to come through!!
Place spice mix in a tea baller (or cheese cloth). Mix liquid in large pot and add spice mix. Heat for 30 minutes and stir.1/2 cup spice mix
2 litres apple juice
2 litres of Red or White Wine (if using White Wine - add 1/2 cup cranberry
juice for color)Mix and heat as above!
Purple Cow Shake (serves 1)1 cup milk
1/4 cup grape juice
1 Sliced bananaPlace all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth! Kids love this one!
Watermelon Slush1 medium watermelon (about 12 pounds)
3/4 cup lime or lemon Juice
3/4 cup sugarCut the watermelon into 2-inch wedges. Remove and discard the rind, black seeds, and as many of the softer
white seeds as possible. Cut into 1-inch chunks and place them in the bowl of a food processor or blender.
Process until pureed although some small chunks may remain. Add the lemon or lime juice and sugar, and blend
until just mixed Transfer the mixture to a stainless steel bowl, cover, and freeze until solid, for 8 to 10 hours.About 4 hours before serving, move the bowl to the refrigerator to soften. In the last hour before serving, use
a fork to break the softened mixture into shavings. Serve the slush in pretty glasses or bowls. Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint if available.
