The Inventor

One of the most famous figures of the Renaissance, Leonardo DaVinci is an artist in all senses of the word.  In addition to his numerous paintings and studies of the human anatomy, Leonardo also sketched machinery of his own invention, culled from a mind of boundless creativity and imagination.  Some of Leonardo's creations, like the flying machines, were astonishingly beyond his times.  Others, like his war machines, were actually built and used in wars.  Regardless of how unorthodox his inventions seemed to be during the Renaissance, they never cease to amaze us all now.
